Hello. Is there a way to transfer an item to another character? Also is there a way to store items other than in my inventory?

The bank, located in all major cities and can be accessed out in the world from random crafting stations. In LA its just east of the mystic forge.

I rarely use it as I am spending time crafting anyway which has a bank too.
Deposit any items you want to give to another character in the bank.
Change characters, go top any bank or crafting station and pick up the item from the bank.
I make weapons and armour for my alts all the time.

There is also storage that is shared among your characters for collectables-crafting materials. You can deposit these mats anywhere in the world simply by right-clicking the item and selecting ‘deposit…’. You can transfer a materials by right-clicking the gear icon on your inventory panel. You can access what you deposited at a crafting station or bank.
