Has anyone checked to see if the new transmutation splitters work on gem store and event skins? Things like aetherblade or megitech armor, and even skins like the fused gantlets or shattered dragon wings? I kind of really, really, need to know.

Actually, there was a complaint on the account issue forum. The person used it on a gemstore item, and was expecting he could choose again between the PvE form and the PvP form. Instead he just got the untransmutated, ready to put on a new item pvE skin back. So yes according to that report you can, but you cant use to change a pve item to a pvp item or vice versa.

Evidence (based on complaints I have seen elsewhere on forums) is that the Skin is NOT considered one of the ITEMS being split and is NOT generated from the split. The real issue here is that any experimentation is likely to result in the loss of the skin itself, so it’s very dangerous (obviously why you are asking the question).

A Dev response would be nice on this issue, but until then, I would consider the Splitter item unable to return the original skin (that does kind of make sense as it is NOT reallly an equipment item).

It would be interesting to see if the Splitter would even allow you use it on an item that just had a skin applied (and was not actually transmuted)…..I doubt it and that would support the theory that it should NOT return a Skin from a transmuted item.
