Q:

I have an Aetherized Pistol Skin I gave to a character I wish to delete. I, of course, am trying to save the skin. If I use a Transmutation Splitter, will that give me back the skin as an account bound item?

I read about this process on the splitter wiki page:

Another example: A player wants to pass a soulbound weapon from one character to another on the same account, typically done for legendaries. First transmute the weapon into a white weapon (with stats). This way you get an account bound item. Place it on the bank and retrieve it with the desired charater. Then use a Transmutation Splitter and you get your original weapon soulbound to the new character.

Although that sounds extremely risky. Do I dare?

If you are only interested in the skin of the item and not it’s stats, you can just use two trans stones, a white item and the item you want you want to use it on. White trans crystals are cheaper than the splitters, anyway.

As Zeivu said, if you want to save the skin, use transmutation stones/ crystals to a white item (cheaper anyways).

Transmutation splitters only give you the two original weapons (armors) back. So it doesn’t split skin and stats and sigil and it doesn’t work on “skinned” weapons (armors), since it doesn’t origin from two weapons (armors).

That is not the case.

The Transmutation Splitter is now available in the Consumable category for 300 gems each, 5 for 1350 gems, or 25 for 6000 gems. Transmutation Splitters will return the two current source items from any transmuted item and will also return an applied upgrade separately. All items returned from splitting a transmutation are soulbound. Items using a skin will return a base item with the original appearance. Another Transmutation Stone will be required to reapply the skin.

So it does work with skinned weapons and it does return the sigil.
