I’ve been back several weeks now and am still learning changes to the game. Today’s surprise was my level 50-something thief could not transmute a skin she has unlocked to a better hat that dropped. The skin came from the hat she was already wearing.

I get the process to accept doing it, but want’s a transmutation “charge” as payment. Charges, as I read them, replaced whatever the transmutation items the 80’s needed, which in most cases meant obtained from the gem store.

But “stones” were for lowbies, who could transmute cost free using the frequently dropped transmutation stones.

So, are lowbie tranmutations no longer free, or is there a tradein for the stones somewhere, or some other free method I’ve missed finding?

Transmutation charges replaced the old Transmutation Stones, both the 80 and the 79 and below ones. Three 79 and below stones = 1 charge. One 80 stone = 1 charge.

Lowbie transmutations were never free, so that’s not changed, really. If you have any transmutation stones left, you can convert to charges them by double clicking on them. If you don’t have any to convert, you can get easy charges by doing map completion (especially in the major cultural cities) and by doing spvp.

Pvp is pretty nice way to obtain stones, if you have old transmutation stones use them you’ll get 1 charge per 3 stones.

charges replaced the entire system (crystals and stones merged into a single transmutation currency). you can get charges from completing maps, daily logins, and things like that, so there are free ways to get them.

if you have crystals or stones from when you played before, you can double-click them to get a few charges 3 Transmutation Stones = 1 Transmutation Charge, and 1 Transmutation Crystal = 1 Transmutation Charge.

The clicking on the old items part was what I needed. The stones dropped regularly, and my thief (8th char) has 66 atm, passed forward by the rest as I don’t use many. Since they dropped far more than I needed them, I called that “free”.

As for the 80’s I probably have 7 of the old item, I believed purchased from the gem store for in game gold. I got 3 of the new items recently from a daily, so I’m good to go, but won’t need until the thief reaches 80 and gets her exotic gear from the crafting crew.

Even if you won’t need them until later you can clear them from inventory by clicking to convert to the new currency. It’s account wide so any charges you get can be used by all your alts (and any you use are deducted from everyone’s balance as well).

Also the new charges show in your account wallet. So click them all in.

That 30 transmutation charges. Lol I barely can hold onto 4. I never felt that transmutation stones dropped enough. When I came back after my long break, I only had like 14 stones saved up >_<
