Couldn’t find much info on it, but i’m interested in obtaining a named great sword like Khrysaor or Lightbringer. The stats however, are garbage and I was wondering if anyone knows if transmuting it with the stats of another sword would I still be able to keep the name Khrysaor/Lighbringer?

I believe you must keep the skin of the weapon to keep the name. But the stats may be changed.

note: If you change the stats to those of a lesser set, you will also devalue the swords “color” for example, if you use an exotic skin, but rare stats, the name will be yellow rather than orange.

I’m aware of the colour thing. Can anyone else confirm you keep the name if u transmute the stats ?

Providing you want the skin of the named sword. Yes, as the name comes with the skin, the stats are a separate section.
