Trying to Transmute, neither item can be dragged to either side of the transmute stone window.

Also tried two level 80 pistols, same thing, can’t get drag either one to the transmute window.

Did you use a fine transmutation stone, now called transmutation crystal? (the white-blue one)
For lvl 80 items you need to use the special one.. not the common transmutation stone (the yellow one)..

You have that backwards. The yellow one can only be used on lv79- items
The silver ones can be used on all.

fine transmutation stone = transmutation crystal = blue-white-silver (needed for lvl 80 items or to combine a lvl 80 item with a < 80 item)

“normal” transmutation stone = yellow (needed for items < 80)

Where do you get the New Transmute Crystals?

One would think they would have added a in-game message telling players this.

So the 150 yellow ones I have are now useless (all level 80 characters)?

They just changed the name from fine transmutation stone to transmutation crystal. They have been in-game before.

You can either be very lucky and receive them from a black lion chest or (if I remember correctly) from map completing or dailies (not sure) or you can buy them in the gem store.

The yellow ones are only usable for lvl 1 – 79 items. So you may need them again if you want to transmute lower items (maybe for other non lvl 80 characters).

The tooltip for the basic transmutation stones has always noted that they don’t work on level 80 items.

There’s no way they’d be thrown at us like free candy if they worked end-game, imo.

They arn’t new Fine transmutation stones /Transmutation crystals have always been required for level 80 transmutation . you can get them from Dragon chests (very very rare ), gem store , Daily,BL chests, or map completion of high level zones

It doesn’t have to be high level zones. I’ve gotten a few from map completion in level 40 and below zones. It just can’t be a city.

So, I finally got my 330 “Flame Legion Charr Carvings” for my CoF brestplate the other day. Went off to the vendor an bought it, and used a (fine)Transmutation-stone so I wouldn’t have to use loads of gold on a new rune. I tripple-checked that I had chosen the right looks, and then “Transmute”.

But when I had transmuted it, it still had the looks of my current chest-plate. The CoF-chestplate was gone and the 330(!) Flame Legion Charr Carvings were gone. So now what? I’ve been in touch with costumer support, only to get the answer that they “Support Team is unable to restore any individual characters, items, or currency. We’d be unable to restore the items used in the transmutation or reverse the process, as we simply do not have the tools to provide this service at this time.”

So now I need to farm up another 330 Carvings for my chest-piece, just because the transmutation didn’t work as it was supposed to, and they can’t help me reverse it.
They really need to make an effort to help players that experience things like this. I doubt I’m the only one..
