Guild Wars 2

Today i created alt with intention of transmuting starting item (subterfuge mask) to other item (medium mask in this case) but for some reason my lvl 2 char couldn’t transmute it. I tryed to transmute it to lvl 78 white mask.
Anybody know what i should do, and why i cant do this since it has been done by many ppl many times.

perhaps the item you’re transmuting onto has to be at a level your char (the one transmuting) can wear it, so no higher than level 2? I have never tried transmuting onto pieces higher than my character, so I don’t know for sure.

It has crossed my mind, but helns only come after lvl 11 so i will have to do some leveling before i try it.

Recently I’ve ran into some problems with the transmuting myself, but what I had to do was swap around the order i placed the items in the window. It was different every time, so give that a shot and see if it works. There should be no reason you can’t transmute items higher than your character or items your level onto higher items as I’ve done both. Play around with it some and see what happens. Also don’t forget you can’t transmute anymore if you’re still wearing it, and sometimes if you pull it off you while the transmute window is open then try to put it in the box it won’t work. Take it off first, close your inventory window, reopen, then try transmuting. Hopefully one of these tricks works, if not submit a ticket and see what the team says.

About a month ago I was able to transmute starting items to helms on a level 2 character (and give them to other characters on my account).

I believe in order to transmute items anymore you have to be the level of at least the item. I’m not sure if the white item transmutation trick still works however.

I just created a thief with a subterfuge mask to check this out. I used a basic transmutation stone on a l18 white mask and it worked, account bound and everything.
