Just hit 80 and need to upgrade my trinkets. I’ve read that gemstones are universal and jewels work for trinkets, but I can’t get my trinkets to upgrade either way. What am I missing?

The upgrade items have level requirements too. The level requirements refer to the level of the item you are trying to apply them to not your character level.

My gear is mostly level 80 exotic and I’ve tried ruby orbs and exquisite ruby jewels on the trinkets with no success, although I had no trouble adding the orbs to my armor. Can you help me with more details about the level requirements? For dummies?

lets say your trinket is level 75 and your exquisite ruby jewel is level 80. You cant upgrade a level 75 item with a level 80 item.

However if the trinket is level 80, and the jewel level 75 its not a problem.

Your own level has nothing to with it.

Well, Ruby Orbs can only be put into armor.

The level thing that was mentioned means that you can only put an Exquisite Ruby Jewel into a level 80 piece of gear, regardless of your character level.

The Exquisite Ruby Jewel will NOT slot in my Berserker’s Ring or Berserker’s Amulet, and I’m at level 80.

As I said your own level is not relevant. What level is the beserker’s ring or the beserker’s element??

D’Oh… don’t I feel dumb! I economized and got some level 78 trinkets and then forgot about it when it came to selecting upgrades. Problem solved!
