Trouble with first person view...where is it?
There isn’t one
Wow…that’s insane. It’s difficult for me to manuever this way very well. Has there been any mention of it being implemented?
This isn’t a first person shooter.

so anything with a first person view option = first person shooter? >_>
In all seriousness, this game is a platformer. Literally. You will not be able to get by without at least a little platforming, especially in PVE. Have you ever, ever seen a first-person platformer that worked?
My advice is to get used to the third-person perspective. You’ll need it.

to continue:
It gives you a sense of peripheral vision in third person. Something that is usually lacking in a FPV.
With the need to dodge as was said above “You’ll need it.”
Everquest had first person. Has nothing to do with being a shooter. Sure, I zoomed out when I was in an area full of mobs, but I like seeing the world thru the eyes of my character.

Portal.
Anyway, back to the topic. Unfortunately, there is no first-person view. Perhaps they’ll eventually implement it, but for now, learn to love your character’s backside. :P
Just to neatly sum-up what everyone’s said, in regard to the third-person camera being necessary:
- The more challenging vistas and jumping puzzles would be virtually impossible.
- You can see enemies approaching from your sides or behind you.
- It’s required to properly execute dodge rolls.
- Remember that the ingame mechanics have to be tailored to/built around the camera. It would take more work than you think to have a proper first-person camera.
- Personally, I like to admire my armor/running/attacking animations. So, so much effort was put into the asura animations, and it shows.
