Trouble with locked traits
Characters created after the April 15th feature pack have traits locked.
Money isn’t the only thing needed to unlock them, skill points are needed too. And they get progressively more expensive.
That makes me a little sick tbh. I mean, you already have to level almost half way to max before you can even assign traits, and now even more barriers, even more gold sinks?

It’s only a gold sink if you don’t want to explore the world with that character. The gold/skillpoint cost is rather high, because ArenaNet wants to encourage players to do exploring.

You can get them for free just for wandering around the world and doing things. When you click on the trait line if you hover over the spyglass it will tell you exactly what thing unlocks the traits. Me and my guild just went around unlocking some of the low level easy ones. It was quite fun.

Not having traits at first really isn’t that big a deal, I pretty much ignored them out of ignorance on my way to my first 80. If you have the extra gold and don’t care – sure, pay it for him – but I feel like he’d be fine on his own and would probably learn more about the game if you didn’t.
