I am leveling my ranger and I love it. But my friend doesn’t play as much as I do so I need an alt to level while I play when he is not on.

I have tried everything but necro and warrior.

I am kind of craving something with powerful aoe damage that can kill mobs fast, and I kind of want close combat but if there is something with nice aoe damage and fast leveling then I’ll choose that over close combat.

I was thinking warrior or guardian, but I’m not really sure.

Warrior really does kill things very fast. If you are running Hearts and hearts alone, take 5 signets (warriors have one of the best healing signets in the game imo), and grab a greatsword and either a rifle or longbow. Rifle does higher single-target damage output, but the longbow is by far better if you have multiple targets as it has several AoE attacks. Greatsword is really, really powerful in PvE at the moment, but other weapon types are a lot of fun too. It’s got the highest damage close range AoE damage attack I’ve seen in the game so far by a long shot (greatsword skill #2), and even its auto-attack hits everything in a decent arc in front of you. With a warrior, you’ll be able to pull several mobs at once or deal with a vetran and his buddies no problem. I’ve been playing a warrior for a couple weeks now, and I’ve died less and killed faster on it than on any class I’ve tried.

If you enjoy AoE why not try an Elementalist? Fast to level up and is pretty fun to play a mage close combat using twin daggers. Can kill very quickly but you have to be slightly careful in melee.

A Warrior is also a sound choice. You can build a signet warrior that can level up very quickly in PvE. However is more suited to high single target damage.

Many weapons hit multiple foes in a small cone in front of you; that makes both the Warrior and the Guardian good choices for “powerful AoE damage”.
