Turning with mouse
There’s no reason you shouldn’t be moving. You’re not an NPC.
Turning with the mouse right click is the fastest and easiest way. If you have a mouse with extra buttons you could keybind Turn Left/Turn Right on it, but that seems like even more effort.
I don’t think what you’re asking for is possible.
But I’m also having trouble imagining situations where you’re in combat and taking a step forward is a problem. Combat in this game is very action-orientated, so in most cases not moving would be more of a problem.
You can bind right/left turn to keyboard keys, but that’s quite slow. You can also bind about-face (180 turn) to a key.
If you’re careful you can also quickly press both mouse buttons or the right button and W and you’ll turn but move forward less than a complete step.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
In combat I don’t mind taking the step. That was just an example to explain what I wanted. The reason I want to turn with my mouse is jumping puzzles. Sounds dumb but I like to face the way I’m jumping. Doesn’t really matter if I can’t, I cope not looking the way I’m about to jump
I’m not entirely sure what you’re asking for, but I turn with my camera. If I walk forward (by using R for autorun or W) and move my mouse side to side, my character will follow the camera direction. I can also run if I hold both left and right mouse buttons down. Both of these different ways of running means I can run around without using my left hand.
I’m not sure if the camera setting is default or not, but I think it’s something to do with checking/unchecking the Use Free Camera setting in options.
Use “about face” I think its the x key by default.
Yarr! I be keeping me pirate runes, Matey. Yarr! You’re welcome. Yarr!
