Hi guys,

I know this isn’t GW2 related but I have an alarming issue. Someone has hacked my twitter, but I can still log in. The biggest part of the issue is that this person is posting tweets on my account and based on what they say I feel this person knows me irl. Even when I change my password that doesn’t force log them out, so I was wondering if deactivating and reactivating my twitter would do the trick. Would it cause it so the next time even if a device was logged into my account they have to enter a password this time?

Don’t want to be rude, but don’t use social media platforms.

But I would try the de-/activating thingy, to be really sure I would delete the account.

Sorry for not that good english. I’m swiss.

You say it’s someone who knows you. That’s means it’s a family member or friend. Delete the account. If you still want to post there, remake with a stronger password.

You could also try contacting Twitter for help. I’ve heard they’re good with issues like this (and people setting up fake accounts to pretend to be you).

By the way if you use the same password anywhere else change it there too. If this person knows you in real life there’s a good chance they know what other sites (and games) you go on.

Two-Factor (Mobile) Authentication

With e-mail authentication in place, you can further protect your account by setting up two-factor authentication on your game account. This system will challenge any game log-in attempt from a new location, and you’ll be required to approve access using a code provided through your mobile device before you can get into the game.

If your e-mail provider offers two-factor authentication, you might consider adding that system to your e-mail account, as well.

You can enable two-factor authentication for Guild Wars 2 on the official website, at My Account > Security.

Quick Tip: Add Two-Factor Authentication for an extra layer of security.

I use this and i have a program called KeePass. I dont know if i’m allowed to mention this here but its a program that helps you save passwords. You have 1 file that can only be opened by 1 MAIN password. ( Do NOT forget this password)

This program can create a Unique password of all different kind of characters and numbers randomly so hackers can’t try with full words like fish1tree. It will create something random like Bhj5xTYqer12LMeM but way longer. Hackers might try to hack the account but will not succeed because they will need a supercomputer + ALOT of time to guess the password. I use this program so i’m able to use all different kind of passwords and not have 1 password for everything.

Hope you get your account back!

Not trying to be rude, but what has any of this to do with helping a GW2 player in GW2?

I still think the correct term for posting something on twitter is “twit”, not “tweet”.
