Got my first character to level 80 and after I week still no exotic…. What can I do to change this?

You can try to actively get some by either buying them from the trading post, craft them using your crafting disciplines, exchange karma or dungeon tokens for them or try to get them from world drops.

Until you do, Rare quality works just as well and is very cheap.

well, Rare is much cheaper than Exotic, but getting Rare items can get still expensive.
If u have hundreds of gold, u may consider lvl80 Rare items cheap.
But if u only have a few gold………….

Just complete a lv75+ map. It will reward at least 1 exotic!

Come on now. It cost less to have a full set of armor of rare quality than buy the grandmaster trait book. Let’s not exaggerate ok?

You can use karma to buy exotics from temples. Figure out which would suit you best and try for it.

If you have enough tokens, which you should get from achievement chests, you can purchase exotics from the WvW vendors, too.

By level 80 you should have easily enough gold to buy exotics.

OK – if you haven’t, then use karma. The Orr temple vendors sell PvE karma gear for lvl80.
Or you can get WvW gear from the vendors in the Borderlands. Can’t remember if it’s badges/karkma/gold – there’s a choice of currency involving all 3. Take your pick.

If you need karma or badges, your best bet is to join the karma train in WvW.

Oh! btw – NEVER pay the gold asking price for stuff on the TP – you can always get it cheaper if you haggle. (a LOT cheaper)

I’m level 72 and I found 5 exotics thus far. All from champs or Shaddow Bohemith

Ohhhh you were expecting drops. Well, ummmmm ok. Not sure how to tell you this except, now I feel a song coming on…..

I guess it depends on what you are doing are you farming, running bosses events, do you have magic find?

If you are looking for them to drop somewhat often you will need to run the boss events fire ele, shatterer, temples in orr ect, farm, or you can try your luck doing the champ runs in frostgorge.

Like the others have said the quickest way would be to buy or craft them yourself.

Also there are four zones you can complete that will guarantee you two exotics each. That’s eight guaranteed exotics. You might not be able to use them but selling them to buy others is what most people do.

Unless you have a lot of magic find, I wouldn’t expect to find and exotic very often. I have 2% generally, and find maybe two a week on average, that’ll go up after tomorrow though with the magic find change.

Champ farm frostgorge like mad you’re bound to get something

Just find a dungeon you enjoy and run all of the paths everyday. You will accrue that dungeon’s currency, go to LA and exchange for an exotic armor set or weapons.

Ok thanks guys for the help I guess if I would have noticed that wvw probably isn’t the best place for exotic farming though I wish it did. It would make wvw very appealing to a lot more players.

also you can do a bit of WvW and buy exotics from merchants there using Badges of Honor. I think that some AP chests give you enough badges to buy at least 1 piece if not more.
