Hi all,

I have done all I could in PVP, WvWvW, even in heart of the mist NPC using F individually to finish the downed opponent. But the hint list in my character is still not complete.

Anyone knows any method to complete this?

Hint list? What hint list?

On your game interface, refer to the top left of your screen whereby you have the option, friend, hero window icons. on the right most icon, is a circle with a question mark in it. In most game, that would be known as “help menu” but in Gw2 its Hint.

I think it’s bugged somehow… I can’t complete the hints because i don’t get the broken armor one… I died like 20 times, i broke the entire armor and still didn’t get it.

Are you still getting the popup when an enemy is downed? I had the same issue with a few hints – one particular one was how to track achievements. If you -are- still getting the hint popup, don’t click the X, but instead, click anywhere else inside the hint box. For some reason, my hint didn’t register when I clicked on the X to dismiss it, but only when I clicked on anywhere else within the hint box.

The one labelled something like return to the mists is bugged for me as well. I completed all the intro stuff, but the hint will not show completion.

But yeah having trouble with the armor one (thought I had to fully break an entire set of armor to red, but never seen a popup) and as far as finishing opponents I’ve never gotten the pop-up in pvp or WvW despite how many people I’ve finished.

Just a nuisance now cause the little achievement window is all “hai you are missing 2 tasks for this” lol

Edit: Okay, after messing around in the mists area and sparring iwth npcs it finally counted for me. The popup finally happened and I had to click to close it and then it registered. First time it popped I didn’t close it so it didn’t count.
Now to try the broken gear one :x

Just a thought, did you then go through the portal to the PvP lobby? Leaving the PvP training area? I would try that then go thru the LA portal. Then go back to the mists.

Yep still trying myself. Have done every suggestion I’ve seen: un-equipping/re-equipping broken gear (have heard it can take a lot of tries to get this), talking to repair npc while equipment broken, tried on various characters. Only thing I haven’t done is make a brand new alt and try it, because I can’t afford to buy more character slots/delete an alt at the moment, so I dunno how that works out. :/

Really stumped on this one. lol. Only thing I can think of is that over the course of playing for the past 7 months I’ve gotten the pop-up but never clicked it away so I never got credit…that or its just super broken.

Edit: Was finally able to do this with a low level alt (I even previously tried this on this character). I ended up chain dying in a story instance on purpose so I broke a piece of gear then unequipped and requiped and it worked fine with the popup. Weird thing.

Now to get stupid mail hint that never works.

I’ve done it with a new alt… And i had to spend 23g…

This is what I did:

1. Start off in Queensdale, right outside of DR
2. Take off all armor except 1 piece
3. Go battle bandits up on the hill until you are dead. May have to go over the hill so nobody helps you out.
4. Respawn at the nearest Waypoint. Should have your 1 piece of damaged armor.
5. Go battle the bandits again until you are dead. Should have your 1 piece of broken armor.
6. Go to the heart vendor in Queensdale. If hint doesn’t pop, take off your 1 piece and put back on. Rinse/Repeat until it pops.

I have a problem with this as well. It says i need to do 1 more hint and that is the one where you must delete a mail. I have deleted several, but it’s still not completed, and thus i can’t get the achievement.

Thats easy, first clear all mail and messages from from the mailbox. Next get guildmates, friends, hell even random strangers if thats what it takes to send you mail. They can send 3 or so before getting mail supression. The mail icon will go red when u hit 10+ then u can delete 1 (delete oldest message first).

The question mark on the top left of your screen shows hints. Open up the window and all hints accomplished in each category will show a check mark. The percent complete will display for any sub-area not yet finished. For example under social, my window reads 66%, because it shows I am missing one of 3. Hope this helps. I am having trouble finishing hints as well. Though it’s not a bug with armor, instead it’s full mailbox. I’ve had 11/10 and it’s never triggered, so I am curious if the bug is bigger for hints than just one specific area.

One thing about the mail is that it only counts the “envelope shaped” mail icons (not hearts, or green personal story mail). Also, A-Net admitted that it sometimes doesn’t register mail sent by the company towards that achievement even if it’s got the envelope icon. So best way is to have random strangers/friends/guildies mail you until your mailbox goes full then delete one of the oldest.

A previous poster mentioned deleting all in your inbox before trying this, that’s because for whatever reason, some mails don’t register. Start fresh.

Wow, I did not even notice that I could track my hints completed. Now I just need a list of all the dungeon paths I’ve completed!
