Guild Wars 2

A friend and I are trying to play regular open-world together, but no matter what we try, we can’t enter the same instance as one another. There’s no option to join a party member in their instance, re-logging doesn’t fix the issue, and changing maps gets us the same situation.
We’re both fully patched, and I can’t think of anything other than maybe it’s because he’s on a Free to Play account?

Thoughts? It’d be nice to actually run some things together.

Are you both Eu or Na?

Which specific instance?

I’ll second what was asked above: Are you both on the same region (EU or NA)? What kind of instance are you trying to join up for?

He told me that he jumped into the game onto an EU server before the Megaserver was introduced, and he claims that the game is telling him that he’s in the NA region now. We’re just trying to find one another on some of the open world maps. Lions Arch, Divinity’s Reach, Dredgehaut Cliffs, nothing seems to be working.

EDIT: I’m in the NA region as well. I’ve had no difficulty playing with other friends, this is the first time in… ever, I guess.

If he was on an EU server then he would still be on an EU server unless he some how transferred server without knowing. Is your friend prone to drunken gaming?

Megaserver has no impact on the region split.

Yeah, unless your friend changed servers to an NA server, he’s still on an EU server. Megaservers didn’t allow EU and NA players to play together; it just let multiple servers (on the same region) play together on the same maps for pve and HOTM.

Just to be sure, though, what server is your friend on? That’ll quickly determine if he’s NA or EU.
