Understanding unbreakable tools.
Everything you wrote is correct. It’s one, account bound tool.
If you want a recommendation, it’s worth it for your main. I personally just use cheap mithril stuff on all my other characters. If you get really into an alt, just swap it over.
I do tend to character hop a lot since it depends on who I feel like progressing with that day (I still have two characters who haven’t finished the base game yet, and one low level character I’m holding onto to join up with my friend and his krewe of new players).
For the past years I’ve just been tearing through Mythril/Orichalcum tools from merchants since they’re not that expensive (although remembering to swap to Ori for top tier nodes and then back to Mythril for everything else is kind of a pain).
One last question, then.
This bundle of tools uses the wording
‘The tools will replace your existing tools on any character.’
But that specific “any” is still any single character, and not any character overall, right? It’s just a bit unclear since the sentence can still correctly be read to mean any you choose, up to and including all of them.
Any single character you put it on. It’s just one tool.
Aight, thanks. I’ll probably keep not messing with them, then. Unless a really cool set comes out, since so far the only ones I like so far is the Cosmic Set.
I put mine in the shared inventory slots. I’ve made it a routine to double click them when I start up a toon and again before I swap out. It’s a little extra trouble, but well worth it so I don’t have to carry tools in anyone’s inventory.
I’d like it better if there was a way to avoid micromanaging them, but for now, this is 3000 gems better value than not having the tools. It’s very convenient (and ultimately saved me a lot of inventory space, plus time that I don’t have to spend at the vendor).
yea have normal tools on all characters then the unbreakable in sharde inventory slots just remember to dubble click when loging in and before loging out.
Why some people say souldbound is before they used to be and those people have forgot to speak to the black lion trader to get their tools unlocked to account bound.

Theres objectively better gathering tools due to quriks in their animations and secondary drops. Unbound magic tools are, hands down, the most well worth of the gathering tools, since the unbound magic can be converted into Gold and collection items from Living Story S3 maps. Second most valuable is Watchwork Mining pick- which yields sprockets that are worth at least a silver each. Third is based on faster then normal gathering animations… phoenix and consortium sickles hit half way through the animation, or the Solar logging tool hits 4 times per use. Fourth is most other tools with normal gathering speeds. And there is a Fifth rank for tools that only hit “after” the animation plays…. making them take longer then normal.
I suspect the reason some people say they’re soulbound is because when the first few were released that was the case. They were changed to account bound after about a year (maybe less?) but if you already owned them you had to speak to an NPC to get them converted and if people played with just 1 character they may not have bothered. Or if they were away when the conversion happened they might not know it’s possible.
The way a lot of people do it is to keep the infinite tools in shared slots and a set of Ori tools on each character. When you log into the character you double click the infinite tools to equip them and the Ori ones go into the shared slots. When you’re about to log out you swap them back.
And if you ever forget to swap it’s not a big problem because the Ori tools are just as good and it will take so long to use them up with just accidental uses that the cost of replacing them will be negligible.
