Is there a way to undo transmutation? I transmuted my advanced spinal blades backpiece to another skin, but now I want to upgrade it to ascended. Would transmuting it back to its original version, allow me to upgrade it in the mystic forge?

You can still upgrade to ascended with the new skin you added, what counts is the base item.
If you really want, you can’t undo it, but you can transmute again to the previous skin.

You sure? The description seems to say otherwise.

weird … in that case transmute again to the previous skin.

I think putting the new skin on it, it will still say transmuted, but you can always try.

It is important to note that transmuting this item will prevent it from being upgraded.

I transmuted mine also before I found out about this.

It should still work fine. No need to put the original skin back on it either.
It is easy to check anyway. Just go to the forge and see what remains highlighted when you put the back item in.
