Q:
Unlock Guild Chest Piece in Wardrobe
A:
I have a feeling the guild chest piece was the default PvP chest skin. Which means that the PvP-versions of your characters would have been wearing them, even if you didn’t actually play PvP. And it would therefore have unlocked in the wardrobe.
Did you get achievement chests back when they dropped PvP skins?
I don’t think these were the default armors, but I can’t really prove that one way or the other. The achievement chest free pvp skins was the most likely means of you getting them. If you got any of the rest of those armor pieces, congratulations, they are unavailable now.
No, I’m pretty much certain of it now. I checked back on screenshots and I have a lot with several different toons in PvP wearing the guild chest skin, which serves to confirms my recollection. I know I didn’t put it on them myself.
You should still be able to buy them, though. From https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Armorer
They were PvP skins before the wardrobe.
From the April 15th, 2014 patch:
PvP Gear Unification
•All PvP equipment (armor, weapons, amulets, etc.) can no longer be obtained or equipped.
•Upon entering Heart of the Mists, players will have their PvP items removed from their character inventory, character equipment, PvP locker, and account bank. This includes PvP chests. •All removed items will have their appearance unlocked in the account wardrobe.
•Characters in PvP will use the same armor and weapons from PvE. •All items give zero attribute, rune, sigil, or infusion bonuses in PvP.
•All items function as level 80 exotic-quality items.
•Chest, leg, and boot armor still contribute to the total defense value.
•All attribute values are consistent with the old system.
•PvP gear now includes unique rune, sigil, and amulet slots.

With the change to the wardrobe, PvP armor and PvP crafting were removed. This allowed PvP players to wear their PvE armor in PvP with normalized stats. The PvP Armor skins were automatically added to the wardrobe.

Thanks for the responses. I’m fairly certain I didn’t play any PvP (unless I just dropped in for a look) as it’s not normally my thing but who knows.

Even if you didn’t ever play PvP, and just went in at least once, to look around, those things still would have been added. I think they might have been added as default even if you never set foot into the PvP lobby at all. As it was default armor given to every character, just like the default gear you get at character creation.

Back before the wardrobe, there was the PvP locker, which contained your PvP skins. Every time you got an Achievement Point chest, you’d get a chest inside of it containing several PvP skins; you got these even if you never set foot in PvP. And once you “consumed” them, they’d be put in your PvP locker. That is likely why you have it unlocked.
