I have 2 exotic bows bought with Badges of Honour in WvW which I don’t want any more.

They’re both soulbound to a character who doesn’t need those stats.
I can’t sell them on the TP.
I can’t sell them to a merchant.
I can’t salvage them.
I can’t put them in the Mystic Forge.

Is there anything I can do with them? Or do I just have to delete them?

(I don’t mind if that’s the case, badges aren’t exactly hard to get, but I don’t want to delete exotics if they might have a use.)

you can do what I do: stick them at the bottom of the bank in case they are ever salvageable.
or you can just say ‘to kitten with it’ and delete it and not get that 37s ecto.
I haven’t bought any wvw weapons yet, but I have had some account bound exotics drop that could be used for nothing else, so I collect them and throw them into the MF when I get 4. But you say these can’t be forged, which sounds familiar

As far as I can tell, ANet wants to limit making gold from sources like karma or badges. (Refer to the chili popper exploit, where people found out how to turn karma into gold. That was quickly removed from the game and suspensions handed out). Since you bought the bows with badges and not gold, if you salvaged them you could get luck, dark matter, ectos and T5 or T6 mats, worth a fair amount of gold. I suspect that this would be too close to an exploit for ANet’s liking and that they will never allow salvaging for this reason.

If so, you might as well delete if you are never going to use them.

Are you absolutely sure you can’t toss them in the flusher with 2 other exotic items (or one other and forge stone(s))?

If not, if they weren’t exotics, I’d say destroy them so the suggestion to just stash them in hopes they can somehow be useful after some future patch is not the worse advice in the world.

Yes I’m sure I can’t put them in the Forge. They don’t even show up on the list of things I could put in.

If my only options are to delete them or keep them on the off-chance they have a use later then I’ll delete them. The badges aren’t that hard to get. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something first.

make sure to add the skins to your wardrobe before deleting them – so you wont have to pay for badges to get the skin again (and the item you apply the skin to should be salvageable, btw)

This happens automatically when you delete an item.

Sadly, many of us have similar issues. What’s even worse, is many of these items contain sigils and runes that are no longer salvageable so we all toss them into our bank in the hopes that one day, salvaging those upgrades isn’t so cost prohibitive. For example, I’ve got two sets of armor sitting in my bank that have Melandru runes in them that I can’t salvage.

But hey, the more items we have to save for the sake of “hope”, the more bank tabs we have to buy! Seems like a pretty awesome business model so far. ::thumbsup::

There is a gem store item that can remove upgrades from an item, so you CAN get the Melandru runes (but it’s going to cost you). I think this was a side effect of removing the transmutation system that Anet did not consider very well.

Just for grins, send in a Support request on the issue and just maybe they will send you 6 upgrade removal items…..who knows?

Yeah, but the huge problem here is that because of the new wardrobe change there is absolutely no way to transfer a rune you had an a WvW piece of armor to another piece of armor. The only way to get your runes/sigils back is to use an upgrade extractor, which is ridiculous imo.

Even if they had to put a monetary cost on all WvW equipment or increase their costs, I really feel it’s in their best interests to make them salvageable at some point. And so players like OP don’t run into these issues. They could even randomly patch it in so people can’t buy up a bunch of equipment with badges and profit from it.

I get why they don’t want them salvageable (a few hours of WvW in EotM could net you dozens of ectos and dark mater). Maybe they should change the extractor item to be infinite use (adjust the price) and require transmutation charges to work?

They really need to address this issue as it appears to be a legit oversight in the current system.
