My question is fairly simple. Does upgrading(infusing) a soulbounded ascended back (fractal capacitor to be more precise) make it account bound? Or does it stay soulbounded?

It depends on the item.
If an item is soulbound on acquire, the result will be that the item that comes out of the forge will also be soulbound on acquire

If an item is soulbound on use and account bound the result will be accountbound.
If an item is only soulbound on use the result will be not binded.

Prototype > Beta. Wiki says the Beta is account bound but I want to make sure.

Infusing rings or backs will make them accountbound.
Technically, the mystic forge does not “upgrade” your item but give you a new one.
