Upgrading PC.

You’ll be just fine, that setup will probably run GW2 on high without issues.
If you can invest in a good cooler, don’t even need to be an water system, just a good fan cooler will do, for the CPU so you can overclock the i5 to about 4Ghz and notice a nice performance improvement.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Throwing a “K” CPU version onto an H81 MB is a waste of money since you can’t OC with that MB. Unless Asus figured out a workaround.

The H81M-A BIOS allow you to overclock CPU and RAM

I was a thinking about this board. http://www.newegg.com/global/uk/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131860
Also what is newegg like to buy from? As I’ve found everything on there for about £50 cheaper than buying it in the UK. And a 960 2GB cheap too about £20 more than the cheapest I’ve found it in the UK.
Edit: by the time I add more import tax it will cost more than what I can guy it for from UK retailers.

Why buy the K version? Are you really gonna OC? You need a solid PSU and cooling to get any benefits from a decent OC. And most of time the FPS gain from an OC is around 5% or lower while it also lowers the lifespan of the CPU considerably. OCing your CPU is only good if your CPU is bottlenecking the GPU, which in this case not a chance.
You can also save money and buy a 1600MHz memory kit instead of 1866, the difference will be like 1FPS at most.
And with the money saved get a decent PSU not some cheap garbage.
OP, word to the wise from a systems engineer who was built several custom PC’s that have lasted 8 years plus.
A few questions you want to answer before you purchase anything:
How long do you want this unit to last?
What games do you play now?
Will you be gaming the same in the future, or will there be less of a need?
Will you get into 4k at al??
Etc. That graphics card might seem ok now, and some of those parts now, but depending what exactly you want from your pc could change that.
I am not sure what exactly your answers are to these questions, but i would rather bring them up so that way you don’t waste what is essentially, an “investment”.
Case in point, i spent about 1600$ on my last machine, however what i put into it i have gotten back out of it. Its almost 5 years old, and still faster than 95% of what is out on the market, and is energy efficient. If i were to sell it today, i could still recoup about 80% of that easily

I’ve built a few systems my self. My current system is around 8 years old maybe older. I built it to play Crysis back in the day. But it’s getting on now and I’ve not built a gaming rig since then, they’ve mostly just been work stations that people want for there home offices. I went on to a custom building site and had a look to see what they where using. These where the only parts I had questions about. I know the 750Ti is not the greatest card. But I can get one for around £110-£120 and that’s with in my price range for the moment. I can always change that later if I want/need to. I’ll probably just be playing guild wars 2 and possibly the new mass effect game when that comes out. But dew to family life I won’t really b buying that many game if the future. So I want this next one to last me another 8-10 years of probably just playing GW2.

Well I had a look at the prices for the 1600 and the non K and Amazon UK where I’ve found the hyperX fury the cheepest(there is one other site but ive never heard of it and it looked On my way! like it’s been built by a 4 year old) it’s £1.90 more exspencive to buy the 1600. And it’s £20 more exspencive to buy the non K i5. If you can find both of these for under £56 for te ram and £174 for the K please post the links and I’d be very great full.

That’s actually a very similar build to what I just build last Saturday! Same graphics card and processor, and I just got 16gb memory instead.
It should be fine I think. Mine runs GW2 on highest settings and nice and smoothly! It’ll still drop fps a lot during big boss events, but I’d imagine it still does the same even on the top end cards!
GW2 is CPU heavy so upgrading your processor is more important than your GPU. Im running with:
CPU: Intel Core I5-4570 3.2GHz BOX HASWELL
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX660 2048MB DDR5/192bit (OverClock)
Motherboard: MSI B85M-G43 Intel B85 LGA 1150 mATX
RAM: 8 gb 1866MHz
With that setup I can play GW2 on max settings with a steady 50-60 fps
This PC is 2 years old already so considering you’re getting a slightly better CPU and plan to get a better GPU then you will have absolutly no problem playing this game on max settings.

FPS drop is due to the processor having to cope with more objects in one place at a time, not the card from what I know.
If you’re going to over clock and you like ASUS products, go for one of their Maximus VII boards (if it fits the budget).
Also, as a note, while GPU is very important, GW2 tends to be fairly CPU-intensive. So getting a good CPU is a good idea, that i5 is fine. I personally have the i7 4790k in my rig, it’s a good chip. That being said, your PC is only as good as its worst part – so do consider getting a better GPU when you can. I’d actually seriously suggest you not go with a 750ti, rather pay a bit more and get a good aftermarket GTX 970. They’re incredibly affordable considering their efficiency and power, cost about the same as most 770 cards, and will all but guarantee everything you run with that rig will be smooth as butter on Ultra for the next 3-4 years.
