Guild Wars 2

I’ve been playing GW2 since launch, but a well-meaning relative recently gave me the Heroic Edition as a gift. I haven’t opened it yet, in case the answer to my question is “no”, but is there any way to upgrade my current “regular” account with the Heroic version? Or is it only for brand-new accounts?

I’ve looked under My Account here on the main site; the “Upgrade or Link Accounts” only seems to be related to the GW1/HoM linking I did way back when. I can’t find any option in-game that may be an upgrade path. And the “Game Versions” page here on the site doesn’t seem to have any relevant upgrade info.

I ended up contacting Support; they were fantastic and basically modified my original account to be the Heroic version. Yay!

If your account is Digital Deluxe, you cannot upgrade it to Heroic. If it is a regular edition, upgrading to Digital Deluxe will give you the benefits from Heroic Edition.

However, the only permanent addition you get with Heroic Edition is one set of either Krytan, Profane or Primeval armor and one big bag, I think it is 18 slots. The rest is temporary boosters or things you consume to gain points (Chalice of Glory).

The armor sets cost 500 gems each, so personally I’d just get that.

I appreciate the info, but “which should I get” wasn’t really what I was asking.

I have a regular account (non-Deluxe, non-Heroic) but the issue is not whether I want to purchase the Deluxe version: I’ve already received the Heroic as a gift, and want to know if I can upgrade my regular account with it.

I don’t think there is any way to upgrade your account.

You could do this in GW1 but that’s because they had a facility in place to allow people to combine multiple account keys into one account, so you could buy the stand-alone campaigns and combine them.

There is nothing like that in GW2, each account only has 1 key.

But you could always contact Support and ask if it’s something they can do.

Alternatively sell the sealed copy you’ve got and use the money to buy the Digital Deluxe upgrade (or the armor skin which is the only permanent addition from the regular Heroic Edition) from the gem store.
