Guild Wars 2

Well as the title says I’am new to GW2 and I was trying to figure out what class is the best for PVE I’am not much of a pvp player so don’t mind anything to do with that. I liked the Memser but everyone I talked to said they are bad lol. So any help on what the best PVE player is and what kinda gear/tips you might have. Lets put it this way I’am used to playing wow lol and this game is way bigger and better. =)

People tend to find mesmer boring until lv 20 or 30. Which is somewhat true but I guess it must depend on what weapon you use. Sword/pistol might make low levels more interesting.

On too the subject. It all depends on what you wanna play. There are close combat classes like warrior, guardian,.. and ranged like euhm, ranger and elementalist. The ranged ones are less capable to survive heavy close combat, but they rain terror from a distance;
So if you like the close combat, choose one off those classes, if not, you can go for the more distant fighters or the pure casters.
I would suggest that you don’t read too much on the forums but go out there, choose a class that you think you gonna like, play it for like say 10 levels and see if you like the playstyle off that class. If its not for you, simple start a new one and see if that fits you more.
Also different weapons give you different playstyles, so be sure to check that out before you decide on a class.

Well ill touch on this slightly. Mesmer like anything else really comes down to the player behind it. Some of the best group’s i’ve been in had mesmer’s in them. Thing is mesmer is kinda strange. Unless your very good with them they seem kinda useless in reguards to other classes that are played by average players. Thats where in my eyes the hate comes from. Theres little difference between average mesmers and bad mesmers.

My advice to you though is play what you like. You know what kind of player you are and what you enjoy. I could give you the best setup out there but frankly if your not into it your not going to do very good in most cases. If mesmer jives with you play it and enjoy it.

For PvE (which I only do as well), I enjoyed the Mesmer. From what I experienced, in the early levels they take longer to “set up” the fight than other classes. For example, a Warrior can just jump right in and tear through mobs. An Elementalist can too. An Engineer can if you don’t rely on Turrets (which I didn’t).

A Mesmer though at first needs to bring out the clones.

On the flip side though, as a Mesmer I was able to have one long running fight from one end of the zone to the other. As an Ele I do need to occasionally stop or risk getting overwhelmed.

None of the classes are bad per se. All of them are very viable in PvE. You might run into some ubers who only want to be seen with a certain class of a certain spec in a certain dungeon. But that is going to be the case no matter which class and spec you pick
