Guild Wars 2

I’m working on crafting The Legend at the moment, and I’m making a list of everything I’ll need so I can plan ahead where possible. For the 3rd tier collection I need a Jar of Blue Paint, and to make that I need 10 Vials of Cobalt Salts, which are an account bound drop from iron ore nodes.

My question is: Do they only drop when you have this collection active?

That would make sense given they can’t be traded and have no use outside of this collection, but I’d like it confirmed by someone who has done this before, because I’ve never received one (and I’ve mined a lot of iron ore since HoT was released), so if it’s just a random drop it looks like I have a better chance of waiting for the finished precursor to drop.

I needed the collection active to get them.

Just an FYI, I received 4 of these while mining ore months before the Bifrost III collection was active, but after I had already completed I + II.

I had them drop when my collection was active but since I completed the legend I have not seen any, though I still get boar brush bristles, lol. At least I can sell those to a vendor.
