So I just killed a lot of icebrood colossus, white moas, and the quaggans. These were at the farm spots that were recommended, I came up empty, so I bought 108 Heavy Moldy Bags opened them all and got nadda. I even experimented with different mobs in other areas where it’s listed as a drop, and still nothing.
Am I missing something? Did they lower the drop rate that much, or am I really that unlucky? Does MF have to be a certain level? Does anyone have a better way to farm them that they’re willing to share? PM me if you wanna keep it a secret, I swear I won’t tell.
Best way I got mine: Keep an eye out for Megadestroyer event since that will spawn a lot of destroyers which will get you a lot of Large Claws you can convert up to Vicious.
Farming a specific type of Tier 6 materials is unacceptably hard in GW2. Anet did a really good job to prevent that. A more efficient approach is to farm every thing that can drop T5 and T6. Convert T5 claw to T6 with dust (as Hebee mentioned), trade other T6 mats to the T6 claw, sell loots from the farm and buy T6 claw, or you can make mystic clover and get T6 as by product. Chance of T6 drop, in general, is very low. Like many other stuffs, the most efficient way is to farm gold and buy from TP… >_<
First off all ask. Where do you need vicious claws for??
If it is for selling them again, then farming them is the best way.
If it is for gettign assasin’s gear then farming and transferring them as mentioned by Hebee is the best option.
If you need them in any mystic forge recipe that requires a stack the best option is to put all your income on it. so use your cash to buy the claws on the TP (besides farming and upgrading them in the mf)
As is always my advice on such matters, if you can stand the tediousness of it all, the Frostgorge Sound champ train is great for this. You can get them dropped by killing random mobs around/near the champs (quaggans esp.), and the champ bags and chests can provide a decent amount of all T6 materials. You can also use laurels to purchase a heavy bag of T6 materials, which will give you 3 random ones (1 laurel per bag). But you are guaranteed to get 3, so you can sell the ones you don’t want to buy the vicious claws off the TP.
Thanks for the ideas everyone. I need a stack so I can make the ascended quiver. I have some already saved up, and I’m not in a big hurry, just looking to get a few daily to minimize the amount I have to buy. Thanks again for the suggestions.
Use http://us.gw2stuff.com/en/events/us (Im guessing US :P) to keep an eye on destroyer on other servers if you really want to focus heavy on getting the claws.
Good luck in your gathering!
Earning gold and buying it is more efficient in terms of claws per hour than any farming method at the moment.
I like the Arctodus farm in Frostgorge. They give bloods, claws, fangs, and hides. I used to do it for about an hour at a time and I would get like 10-20 of the tier 5 and a handful of the tier 6 mats I listed.

Yepp .. thats what i also mostly do.
I think the Icebrood droprates were nerfed maybe a year ago when the corupted Lodestones were still selling for 1g70s or whatever. Since the prices of the Lodestones are so low now, and prices of fangs and claws are nearly like blood at the moment, Arctodus farm is much better.
Also you can maybe kill the troll from time to time whenever the champ-train is there
