I’ve been taking still pics using print screen but wondered if there is a good (preferable free) program I could use to record video’s?

Try MSI Afterburner. That’s not its main purpose, but it has a recording mode.

FRAPS is probably the standard, but it’s not free.

I tried Taksi, but it really, really sucked.

thanks….I did a search and saw fraps…might try it.

Fraps is free if you do 30s videos, if you want longer you have to pay.

+1 for Fraps, it’s been my go-to recording software for a long time.

MSI Afterburner has far superiour performance to Fraps, and is 100% free. Fraps can slow your game down something fierce, and has barely any quality options.

In order to record with it, you go to Settings, and go to the Video Capture tab. There you set your recording button and whatever quality you want. (Just play around with it to see what works best for you.)
A a nice side effect, the fan controls for your GPU that MSIAfterburner offers are actually quite nice.
