Voice Chat - Headset Recommendation
Ahh the headset choice.
I don’t wear glasses so cannot speak about that part.
I always recommend TurtleBeaches, I still have the old X11’s very comfortable have a padded rest and well padded around the headphones. Due to the size of the head phones your glasses will be passing through the headphones. In between your head and padding.
Trittons I am not so sure of. For the price I personally think they are overpriced and there are quite a few reviews on some of the models reliability.
I personally recommend a wired Headset. Wireless headsets eat through batteries like anything and is not what you want when a headset cuts out in between a session.
I have not had any experience with any 1 earred headphones at this point in time.
The more well know ones would be:
TurtleBeach
Tritton
Astro
Good luck.
Edit: Shout by Mercury. Go to a store first to try them. Then go online as you can normally get them cheaper.

I think a comfortable headset shouldn’t be too much expensive. There are 3 important things to look for.
1: Adjustability: I wear glasses as well, but my headset is so precisely adjustable that it doesn’t hit my glasses anywhere.
2: wide: make sure the distances between the two ‘ears’ is either adjustable or wide enough for the size of your head. The ring between them shoud be resting on your head, and not levitating cause your headset isn’t wide enough. (And no I’m not claiming you have a big head ;o
3: Flexibility. unless your are planning on smashing your headset around choose one that is flexible. It may not look as durable (and it isn’t), but it is a lot comfortable then ‘stiff’ headsets.
according to the above, don’t buy them online. some people has a fit all head and have no problem buying them online, but it looks like you don’t. Go to a store where you can try them on.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Not sure how comfortable this would be with glasses, since part of it goes behind the ear, but this is what I use: http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-MX500i-3-in-1-Headset/dp/B000I4RMOU
It’s great for voice, because this is separate from your computer speakers. There are cheaper websites that sell this headset, just linked that one. Easy to set up, just plug into your usb, and adjust the microphone settings in your computer, then the voice program you’ll use. You can also unplug the usb and use the 2.5 mm jack.
Does it need to be a headset? As in, will the chatter bother the rest of your household? I also wear glasses, and can’t stand earbuds, so I experience the exact pain you do. Plus I loathe having anything pressing the top of my head.
My solution is a Logitech mic (USB port style) sitting near me on my desk, and output through the computer speakers. If my husband needs to go to bed down the hall from my computer room, he pulls my door shut -grin- But it’s just him and me, so having all the chatter out loud isn’t a problem.
If a headset is a must, sorry — for the above reasons I know very little of them.
The real question should first be, USB or plug?
After that, I have a logitech USB that I really like for managing levels and reliability but it leaves my head a little raw; I have to wear a ball cap under it and that works fine.
I also have a razer that i like for comfort. I also have some cheap single-ear motorolas that were probably meant for ecksbawx (single ear USB) and I would pretty much give them away. In fact i tried to on halloween and the little 5-year olds handed them back and said they would rather have the nasty popcorn balls from the cat-lady down the street, thankyouverymuch
I use a Turtle Beach x11 like one of the above posters recommended.
It was my old xbox headset that I retired to the PC when I got x41’s for my xbox.
They are SUPER-comftorable w/ glasses. Only issue is an extremely long cord, but if you can tie-wrap it or something you should be good to go.
They SHOULD be cheap now too. Or cheap-ish.
Awesome – thanks for all the recommendations everyone, I’ll check them out. Also, thanks for the suggestion Donari – before I would have said it had to be headset, but usually playing nowadays (90% of the time, at least), I’m alone in the basement when grouping anyways, perhaps I’ll look into getting a mic and using regular speakers when surrounding sounds aren’t an issue.
One of my guildee’s uses a standalone mic.
His quality is definitely not up to snuff with the people w/ headsets, although it could be his mic personally.
