So I want to be able to press a button and say a certain prerecorded thing inchat. Basic party commands for pub groups.

I bind ‘C4’:

enter+H+e+l+l+o

And it usually reads “hello” in the text chat of most games.

I do it in gw2 and it just registers the ‘enter’….so it selects chat and that’s it. So I wanted to know if the game intentionally doesn’t allow these sorts of things or if anyone else has gotten it to work and has some advice.

The software I have with my keyboard doesn’t tell me how to add a delay and doesn’t have anything in the options that adds in a delay between each component of the command….so is there any universal button that adds delay that would fix the issue if delay is the issue?

Take the extra step: Manually press enter, then hit your macro key. You might lose like, 0.1 seconds of time out of your day.

Technically, binding a single key to send a predefined word or sentence to chat is against the ToS. Policy is 1 key = 1 action.

Making a single key press automatically perform multiple key presses is performing multiple actions with a single key press.

  • activating chatbox (1 action)
  • each letter being entered into the chatbox (1 action per letter/character entered)
  • sending that text to chat (1 more action)

At minimum, sending a single letter to chat via one key press would be bannable as that one key press would be performing 3 actions. Expand that out to entire words or sentences and it really adds up to how many actions are performed via that single key press.

Not sure if they have banned accounts for macroing chat statements before or not, or if they’re kind of lax on enforcing macro usage for this behavior. Just letting you know that it technically does violate the ToS, so do not be surprised if you do get banned for doing it (or attempting to do it).

Well, what would be the best way to check/confirm?
