Ok So I have both to lvl 30 ish, and the Forums seam to lean towards War, and Ranger is the worst class on the planet. I want to farm a Legendary, its my end game goal. What class from a PvE standpoint would have the Easiest time with this?

Warrior has a lot of tools that can make PvE farming a mindless task requiring little effort.

Rangers can accomplish the same stuff as warriors, no problem. But you might have to think while farming.

Honestly it’s up to you, either one doesn’t matter. Both are perfectly competent/capable and neither will get you to your legendary any faster. But if you’re looking for someone to choose a class to play for you, then I flipped a coin and it came up on Warrior.

I agree with coding that there is little difference. However, if your reaction to ranger is “worst class on the planet,” it sounds like you’ve already made a decision.

Ranger has the potential to be the best profession for farming with the right spec and gameplay because of traps and piercing arrows.

Run something like this and you’ll be able to tag everything before it dies easily.

Target the farthest enemies possible and line up your attacks to maximize your attack damage and drop traps on mobs to the side. If your traps are on cd, use the carrion devourer’s F2 to drop an AoE poison.

However, if you’re convinced that the Ranger is the worst profession, then you’re probably doing something very wrong…

He said the forums say that Ranger is the worst class, which is correct. Scouring the forums, almost every mention you see of class power puts Ranger at the bottom of the list.

I’m more of a melee player, but I didn’t like Fighter much for some reason. Honestly I would say go with whichever one you enjoy playing the most. Not because I want to come off all hearts and rainbows, but because you’re going to be spending a LOT of time playing that character. If you like them both about the same, then go with whichever one you feel the most comfortable taking harder mobs with.

Warrior, but you should also consider Guardian, they’re good at farming and not as mind numbingly boring as Warriors.

Rangers are THE most unfinished and broken profession according to Arenanet themselves. Shouts and Signets were removed in beta to be changed, but ended up back in because of time constraints. Spirits are awful as well. Traps are basically the only good utilities. Not to mention many of their weapons are useless (LB compared to SB, GS compared to single hand sword, single hand sword and it’s rooting bug…)

Rangers have been promised a huge overhaul for over a month now, but each patch they don’t get anything and the devs make excuses.

I would NEVER recommend a ranger in the state they’re in now.
