Wardrobe
You should get the item unlocked once you’ve created your character. If it’s your first character ever, you might need to unlock the Wardrobe first, but for subsequent characters just making the character and starting the tutorial instance will unlock the item for your Wardrobe, letting you delete that character and use Transmutation Charges to put the skin on someone else capable of using it.
So yes, you can have an Engineer or a Ranger with the thief hood.
Yes, that’s exactly how it works. The hood should unlock in the wardrobe from the first character, and be usable (for a transmutation charge) on any other character that uses medium armour.
Cool, thanks for the info.
One of the first things I did when the wardrobe was added was make a whole load of new characters to unlock all of the starting item skins (made, unlocked, deleted, so it only took 1 character slot). You need 3 of each profession except the ranger to get all of them (21 total). Rangers choose a pet instead of an item and those aren’t transferable.
Also you should only need to get your first character to level 6, after that the wardrobe should be unlocked for all your characters from the start.

I think ele has four “skins” (one for each of the elements).

You’re right they do. I knew I’d forget something.
