A server listed as ‘full’ just means it has too many people logged in at that time. A server can support infinite accounts tied to it, but a limited amount of those accounts online at once.
You just need to keep checking in at off-times, when the server status changes from full to very high. Usually it’s in the late mornings, EST.
You can guest over to Tarnished Coast no matter what server your home server is, and all you miss out on is the WvW, from Tarnished Coast. Unlike most games, you’re not locked into PvE on your home server.
Piken Square is the unofficial RP server in Europe.
Tarnished Coast is the unofficial RP server in the US.
A lot of people guest over to Tarnished Coast to RP and even join RP guilds on TC. You’ll be fine.
But if I guest then I can’t do everything on the server, correct?
You can’t WvW, which you can do on your server. Not many people RPs in WvW anyway. You can do ALL the PvE on the server and you can PvP as well (though no one RPs there either).
WvW is it’s own separate area of the game, and it’s probably not the best place to RP.
I think there are RP communities on other servers too. I don’t know which ones because I don’t RP much and I’m not on the American servers. But there are also various fan sites which will probably tell you if you google them.
Tarnished Coast is kind of an exceptional situation though. It started off as just the unofficial RP server (well, actually it started off as just a normal server but was adopted by RPers almost as soon as the server list went up) then over the first few months it began to catch on with regular players too as it gained a reputation for being very active and having a great community. Now it seems to be the only server anyone in the US wants to play on.
But that’s not to say it’s the only choice, or even the only one with active players and a great community. IMO it’s well worth checking out other servers (which you can do for free through guesting) as well.

I settled on Jade Quarry. Only Full server that opened up, so hopefully it is a good one. Had to delete all my characters to do so, but I didn’t really have anyone high level anyways.
How can their be a primary WvW server? That makes no sense. If one server were the primary WvW server, then that server would always been in first place…and that wouldn’t really be fun for anyone. No challenge makes for dull PvP. It’s rivalries that make all the difference.

Just a comment, I’m in Henge of Denravi and I’ve noticed that if I am in a party and a party member goes to WvW, if I mouse over their party profile picture it will say something like WvW, Jade Quarry.

This information is incorrect.
The server listed as “full” means the amount of accounts currently have that server as their “home server” has reached it’s cap, and the only way it will become “High” instead of “Full” is when either ANet increases the cap, which they do slowly in increments, special occassions, or when someone transfers to a different server.

That’s a weird bug. On Crystal Desert, my friends have said I show up as on Henge of Denravi with the mouse-over, actually, when I head into WvW maps. I am curious if it’s ever claimed other servers. The Party UI is a little dumb sometimes.
In any case, there’s no primary WvW server, though some worlds have far more active wub-wub players than others.

In that thread it was suggested that some servers are dedicated WvW servers with respect to hosting the maps and communicating with players’ clients. *shrug* I don’t work for Anet, and I made the assumption that they weren’t doing it that way. Perhaps they are, though!

I switched over to Piken EU even though I’m in NA. No problems with increased lag and I got scooped-up by a RP guild in my first hour of hopping over. Worth a thought.
