Guild Wars 2

Okay so I’ve been slaughtered several times trying this story quest. I’m a level 13 thief brought back down to 8. My dual Pistols both have +6 power. The thing is I can’t make it past the first wave, the whips and archers take me out. I’ve even tried starting over from checkpoint until all my armor had been broken and I was running around with just my leafs. Does anyone have any pointers for this quest? It just seems the thief is an incredibly weak char. Thanks.

That is normal. When you enter other people in your party on the same map will get a prompt to join.

As for the original problem I would recommend getting a shortbow(and unlocking all the skills if you haven’t already). It is ranged like the pistol but you can hit multiple targets. Choking Gas + Cluster Bomb can also apply AoE weakness. Sword+Pistol would be another option. Use #5 on the pistol to keep things blind while you fight them.

dual pistols is weak and only for single target.. even for that dagger is better. use sword/pistol for mobs and aoe, 5 to blind if needed and 3 for burst and evade at the same time. also make sure you have signet of malice (for heal), when you use sword 3 or any burst skill you will get healed by a lot. also, you can use either sword 2 or Steal as a gap closer if needed.

Signet of Malice is nice but in low level areas it feels very weak.

+power items help kill things quicker, but if you’re dying you should go with +toughness or +vitality.
I’ll add that at low levels, the amount of stats you get from items isn’t significant, so it won’t make a huge difference, but it could help.
I’d go with other people’s suggestions about using aoe weapons. aoe may deal less damage to a single target, but if you hit 5 mobs at once, that’s probably 4 times as much total damage as single-target attacks would do. That’s why there are 2 weapon slots – I like to have one for range/aoe and the other for melee/single combat. use the weapon that works best for each situation.

Have you been planting the seeds to help with defense? It’s sort of plants vs. zombies. Gairwen will give you the seeds, you plant them to the south to block the waves.
