Weapon Attack Range?
Because they are different professions. You can’t really say that just because one professions uses a weapon a certain way then all professions should use it the same way. also the guardians staff has a large cone that can hit 5 people each attack. Don’t try to compare profession weapon skills you might go crazy. And if you want to get technical with the weapons the shortbow is a physical weapon so you cant really get different ranges with it, meaning if you pull it all the way back then it can only go so far. A staff on the other hand is a magical weapon so the user has more control of what that weapon does.

FYI, ranger shortbow auto-attack is range 1200, thief shortbow auto-attack is range 900.

The weapons dont have a range. The skills you are using through the weapons have a range. The auto-attack is basicly spamming skill 1 (on default, you can always change the auto-attack skill).
Staff skill one on a mesmer has a range of 1200. Staff skill one on a guardian has a range of 600. It’s the skill thats being channeled through the weapon that does the damage and so also the range. Not the weapon itself.

and my engineer can lob 3 grenades at the same time farther than any bow can propel an arrow or pistol/rifle propel a bullet.
