Guild Wars 2

I am a ranger. When I swap from my SB to S/WH, I lose about 50 attack. I cannot figure out why.

Both weapon sets are exotic. The damage of SB and S are the same (905-1,000). The sigils I have (Smoldering in sword, Accuracy in warhorn, none in bow) don’t look like they would affect this. I don’t seem to have any related traits. Online build editors don’t recognize this Attack Rating change.

It’s because Attack takes the average of the two 1h weapons’ max damage. The attack attribute is also pretty much useless …

Thanks, Khisanth. I actually did try to find this on the wiki, but apparently I looked in the wrong places.

I was also confused by the fact that the build editors I’ve used seem to be ignorant of this mechanic…

They probably didn’t bother because the Attack attribute isn’t used for anything and doesn’t correlate with anything. Well except maybe the fact that bigger is better is still true.

To post multiple screenshots in a post you always need to wait for the first one to be uploaded. This is a hidden process without a process bar, so it can be confusing. To help your self you can always preview after uploading the first. That way you can see when the first is done.
