What Videocard.
Yes, the 460SE would be a good replacement for your card. Comparing specifications, you should see a decent upgrade in visuals!
Edit:
A more elaborate answer;
The Gigabyte card uses the GTX 460 SE chipset. Comparing the two chipsets:
The 8400 has (at best configuration): 1 GB of RAM @ 1 GHz and 8 GB/s bandwidth and a core that clocks at 520 MHz
The GTX 460 SE has: 1 GB of RAM @ 3.4 GHz and 108.8 GB/s bandwidth and a core that clocks at 650 MHz

+1 for replacement. I agree with Creature.
It does depend on what power supply you have. Do you know the rated wattage of your power supply?
Hi,
I’m currently running the game on an Nvidia 560 SE. Getting good FPS from it with no lag.
or is the GeForce GT 640 a better upgrade?
I’d go for the GTX460 for smooth gaming. You must also have a good Power Supply, minimal of 500w of True Rated PSU. 80+ Bronze of better.
Make sure your power supply can handle the upgrade. I am repeating this because it is very important – if it cannot, you whole system can be fried.
Also, what is your CPU ?

for gaming you always want a gtx prefix for nvidia cards. (until they change how they name them to gouge some money from the unsuspecting.)
just so you know, “SE” is usually sh**ty edition. You can find a regular GTX 460 for like $80 on eBay, which are much better. But if you have the money I’d recommend a GTX 670 or GTX 660Ti they’re like 215%-230% the performance of a 460. Unless you’re happy with low/med settings, the 460 will be fine.

I’m running HD6790 + Seasonic 520w, works like a charm for a budget setup though.

Definitely I wish to echo this response dealing with the CPU rather than the GPU. It is possible to have a top of the line graphics card that might be throttled by the CPU, leading to more frustration than is necessary. Also, as others have said, make sure that the PSU is up to the task, and if your graphics card needs its own power feed, make sure the PSU is calibrated for that. Again, I make these notes so you can avoid frustration and have a smooth upgrade.

I also have the GTX460SE.
It’s ran almost every game I’ve played so far with max settings at 1920×1080 resolution.
There have been a couple of games where I had to turn down some settings a tad, but overall it’s a great card for the money.
I’m going to agree with Aristar. I just got the GTX 660Ti. Running it on a new 600W 80+ Bronze PSU. Running everything on high (without AA or advance character textures) and getting 60 fps everywhere in PvE. WvW dips into low 50s / high 40s at times, but still smooth.
It all depends on your budget. For the money the 660Ti is a hell of a card.
Radeon 7850 Double D here flawless graphics

I’d have to agree here, you also need to have atleast a CPU that is on Par with your GFX Card and an optional 1600MHz – 1866MHz of DDR3 Ram Sticks/ 2 × 2GB.

This helped my pick my graphic card and CPU. I ended up buying Intel i5 3570k and Radeon 7770. (70-80 fps on high settings)
What is your spending budget? Does your motherboard support PCI-e or just PCI?

I run the game on High to Max settings in the 45 to 60 fps range with a gts 450… Unless hes got something bottle necking his computer theres no reason he couldent get the same results.
