I am in the process of buying a new laptop and I am not sure what to purchase. I have a mobile lifestyle so a desktop is simply not an option, though I know it is the best option.

my budget is somewhere between 700 to 1000 Euro

I would like to be able to play at high res and let my partner enjoy watching me play.

So does anyone know my best options?

I think you’re asking for too much – generally with laptops, you pay a premium for something that handles high-res gaming. At your price point, I think you need to set your sights lower; there are machines that can game, but not at high resolutions. Off the top of my head, there’s the Acer Timeline M3, which is a 15" ultrabook with a decent Nvidia GPU, and there’s the Alienware laptop (can’t recall the name) that’s a smaller form factor (like 12-13" iirc.) One of the smaller companies, like Sager, has crammed a fairly powerful GPU into a smaller laptop chassis, although I believe it’s heavy, hot, and has so-so battery life (which would be typical for ‘gaming’ laptops.)

You’re not going to find a laptop that drives games at high-res for that amount, I think; most dedicated gaming laptops are pricey and usually in the 15"-17" screen size range, which I’ve found a PITA to drag around if you’re really mobile. I would look at the 1366×768 resolution machines (like the Timeline.) Playing at a lower native res with a decent framerate is, IMHO, better than a stuttery high-res experience.

I just bought a bran new lower end msi cx61 14" for under $900 canadian for my young guy, still came with i5 2.5ghz proc 6gigs of ram and a 2 gig vid card. Plays every game I have fine. hooked to a 24" lg tv/keyboard & mouse – I buy mine from compusoft out of red deer alberta if that helps, I like that store.

Hmmm, for 1000 USD it will be almost impossible to get a top laptop. You can however get a laptop that plays the game stable enough on high settings. But for getting close to a desktop look you need a laptop that is 300-400 USD above your budget. However I have recently played the game on an MSI GE60. besides that I had a lil bit concerns bout the cooling it played pretty nice.

I don’t have an answer for you, but I have a question so others can give a better answer.
Is it just high-rez you want? Like, are low settings, high rez acceptable?
