Guild Wars 2

Hi Guys,

(I am not talking about the two Dodge Endurance Bars that deplete when you use dodge)

My Wife and I recently started playing Guild Wars 2 and wow… I haven’t fallen in love with an MMO like this since WoW… I am beyond amazed at what Arena Net has accomplished in terms of performance, detail, gameplay…. etc.

But to my question,

I play a Warrior and I have 2 Cast Bars moving when I am in combat with something. One is thin and moving fast and one is thicker and moves slower. Now the thicker one appears only sometimes.

I speculated first that this is my Auto Attack but this didn’t sync 100% and didn’t make that much sense so I now think that this represents the enemie’s attack. The thicker one being special abilities to dodge?

My Wife says she never noticed a thicker bar (She plays a Ranger) and believes the thinner one is her Auto Attacking.

Could you take a screenshot of the bars? I play a warrior and am not sure what you mean. If it’s just above your 1-5 skills and has F1 at the end, that’s your Adrenaline bar. Hitting F1 uses up the built up Adrenaline and launches a big attack. You can mouse over the F1 icon to see what it will do, as it varies with what weapon is equipped.

If it’s a thick bar over your health area, that happens for any channeled attack. Sometimes it gets even thicker as you get to the middle and then to 2/3, to show you are ramping up the effect; on those, it’s when you’re holding down the key and releasing it at your desired point. If it’s a straight thick bar you might be doing 100 Blades. That attack pins you in place and you can see how long it’s going; you can move out of it at will but you lose the rest of the attack.

Basically any attack that takes time to discharge all its effects will have a cast bar.

thinner is the auto attack, thicker is usually a channeling skill? unless you’re talking about your adrenaline bar (charge to activate your special)
