What caster class play?
Fair warning, combat in Guild Wars 2 tends to be more active than most MMORPGs, no matter the class.
If you want to keep your distance and not need those reactions as much, your best bet is probably to play a Ranger. The Ranger comes with a pet to take the hits for you, which should let you usually keep your distance. The cautionary note would be that it’s going to instill bad habits in you, so that (for example) when you go to a dungeon later and suddenly you need to dodge certain attacks or perform other tasks that don’t involve shooting a longbow from max range, you might be caught off-guard and be unprepared for it.
thank you for your answer!
Mesmer , Necro or Engineer are too much adrinaline so, they have not a static and relaxing builds?
Engineer requires you to push a lot of buttons to play well, while Mesmer has a little bit of a rough levelling curve before becoming stronger at high levels. Of the three classes you listed, Necromancer probably has the best passive play out of them, because of its high HP totals, but even that won’t be able to compare to having a pet’s HP to take hits for you.
The problem I think youre going to have is GW2 is very fast paced combat system no matter what class, you stand still you are going to die. It is also the only game im aware of that you need to use the dodge button. (combat in GW2 is totally different from Final Fantasty which seems to be more of a slower speed, you litterally must stand still to cast).
as for ranged classes,
Necromancer- can either be long ranged staff aoe damage, or medium range, you will still need to move..
Ranger- a good middle ground may be what you are looking for. It does require heavy use of pets to keep you alive, and the pet ai isnt exactly the best.
Engineer- you will be moving A LOT, pressing buttons A LOT it is an extremely high skill level of play
Mesmer- High learning curve, not as much button pressing but you need to dodge and shatter (mesmer attacks), its not a total movement class and is very interesting to play but you may find it to much movement.
TLDR GW2 is not a sit still game, and isnt designed to be.
As was already said, you’re not going to be able to just stand in one spot for very long if you want to both kill the mobs AND stay alive. You have to be actively moving and dodging big attacks. The good news is that pretty much every class has ranged and melee options. It’s never good to lock yourself into only ranged or only melee combat styles; a good player will know when to use melee and when it’s best to pull back and stick to ranged.
From pve point of view:
Ranger – great for doing open world solo, groups and world bosses. The “stand still” while killing something approach is most feasible with ranger. However, if you ever step into dungeon, you’ll find that approach will frustrate your party members and you won’t add much to the overall team performance.
Staff Elementalist – deserves to be mentioned here despite the class squishiness. In open world solo, you can’t play it ranged as much as with ranger and you’ll have to be more careful as squishy ele can’t take many hits. But if you prefer to do pve with someone/small group, you can range as much as you want. World bosses, ranged easy peasy. In dungeons, staff allows you to be in melee and range too and your party members won’t blame you everytime something bad happens, ranger gets all the hate even if they didn’t cause it.
So pick the class on what content you intend to play most.
I agree on Ranger being the most laid back.
Possibly Necro with a lot of toughness and shroud jumping, but the easy answer is Pet Patrol.
