Guild Wars 2

Hey everyone,

I’ve managed to narrow my class selection down to: Guardian, Engineer, Necromancer and Mesmer.

Which one would you say is best for these criteria:

Mastering
FotM/Arah
WvW Zerging and some small group stuff
General farming etc.

Basically, I’m just looking for a class which is pretty decent in PvE, and good in WvW, but allows for a lot of mastering.

Guardians are loved and wanted in every part of the game. But maybe give us idea of your playstyle instead of just goals.

Aggressive and I enjoy high burst and mobile gameplay.

From an organized guild point of view, Guardians are highest on that list. I cannot speak for Arah, as its a dungeon I completed and never returned to. But other dungeons Guardians are the best also. The might stacks they give from their staff is just too good along with all the other buffs. Mesmers are essential in WvW as well, but you don’t need as many. Necros are not essential but you won’t get complaints if you run one. Engineers are pretty bad. Not a lot of organized guilds will run with them.

Also, from your description, you might want to try Elementalist.

I’ve narrowed it down to Mesmer and Thief now.

The only reason I’m looking so much is just because I really don’t want to dedicate a load of time to the wrong class…

E.g. what I did with my warr :/ Full geared him and everything to find out he’s boring af lol.

For Arah it depends on what kind of run you are going for. A thief would make skipping certain bits easier but you could skip them anyway without one.

Mesmer is good for the lupicus fight if you know how to time your reflects.

As for going with the wrong class … uh did you craft to 80 or something? 80 levels should be more than enough to get to know a class.

Nah it was just the way that I levelled my Warrior. They glide through levels so effortlessly that I did it in about 2 weeks…

any class can be played agressivly tho some classes need to offer alot of defense to do so given they must go to melee to fight(and yes thiefs has the best defense for doing that so they dont count as thats not offered away)

if you build your guardian for high damage you will have a hard time in some situations but it will also be very agreesive in the play style.
necros can also be very agreesive in there style tho in a diffrent way.

my surgestion is go try all classes into level 20 or so to see if the utiltys work for you(i know you dont get all but you get an ide of how they work)

If you want to choose ebtween thiwf and mesmer, im definitely goig with mesmer.
Mesmers are like the “jack of all trades, master of whichever they feel like”

Really, you can do pretty much anything with a mesmer!

• You can be very mobile and delice bursg damage, while avoiding damage when youre not doing burst damage.
• Yoy can sit back and let your phantasms do alot of damage.
• In any build you can quickly equip glamour utility skills, which support your group without needing traits.
• You can make very potent boon support with a 0/0/20/20/0 build, leaving 30 points for you to choose yourself!
• You can even be a tank.

Mesmer has an incredible skill cap, ive played mesmer for nearly 1800 hours and there are still things to learn!

You can copy a build from the internet if you like and have an easy start, but its much more fun making your own build in my oppinion! There are enough fun and viable traits to choose from.

Did i mention mesmers posses a feared and loved ability called “purple butterflies”?
