What class is the funnest?
Most classes can be played tanky; personally, I play a tanky guardian and necromancer.
In terms of fun, well, most fun would be what you like to play most. Again, personal opinion, but I love necromancer and elementalist, and I also have three rangers^^
There’s no holy trinity in GW2, so, unless you’re specifically after a speedrun build or whatever, you can pretty much play whatever you like and still play all parts of the game. Sure, there’s a demand for meta warriors and such in dungeons (for speedruns mostly), but if you don’t really care about that stuff, you’re fine playing what you want.
tl;dr: Necromancers are fun, as are elementalists and rangers But since you can go right into PvP and goof around with what’s essentially a level 80 character there (to see what traits there are, how to combine them and whatnot), you can try that for yourself.

Well, this is a game where you don’t have a traditional trinity of ‘tank/healer/DPS’.
Any class can be built to be tanky with equipment/trait choices, but the classes that are the most innately tanky would be the Warrior (highest HP/best armour), the Necromancer (highest HP and a second HP bar via class mechanic), and the Guardian (best armour and many defensive buffs/options). But those shouldn’t be your only options. Thief is a class that has the lowest HP, but if nothing ever hits you because you’ve got a pile of dodges, evasion and blindness effects, then that winds up being just as good as a Warrior that face-tanks everything. And better, when fighting enemies that will kill you in one hit regardless of your HP.
Awesome and thank you for the quick replies. I am really leaning towards the Guardian or Necromancer at this point in time. 98% of the game is downloaded, and the other 2% feel like it is taking an eternity to download, hahaaha. I have no clue what all this game entails, but I definitely can not wait to find out.
On a side note, is it possible to build a ranger tanky?
I never tried that, but it might be, with the right weapons (sword/dagger, maybe sword/axe, greatsword) and traits, similar to the thief – never getting hit also is a viable option. Though a ranger has a pet to tank for him, so there aren’t that many options, and the damage output probably isn’t that great anymore.
Though you can certainly try to find a good build on your own.

If you’d like you can message me in game and I can help a lot there. I’d say to pick a Guardian, Warrior, or Necromancer.

Ok awesome, I just have to figure out how to message people haha. I ended up making a Guardian for my first character. I am trying to get used to the different weapons and skill sets that come along with them. Like I want to be a killer tank, who can help my team by tanking and or healing them. But I do not do a lot of damage when I use Maces. Items that allow me to be from what I can tell, a quote, unquote, Guardian. I seem to do A LOT more damage, and able to stay alive longer with two handed weapons.
I keep wanting to read the title as funniest.

Try hammer and staff for guardian.

I run a Guardian as my main and love it! I can take him anywhere, do some impressive dps and take more than a few hits before going down.
I’d say the key to bolstering allies is through your virtues (F-keys) and utilities. You can choose to go further into your Virtues trait line, for example, and really crank up your group support skills.
My weapons sets are Greatsword/Sword+Focus. GS does some amazing damage, but you can trait for extra damage for sw+foc (e.g. Scepter Power in Zeal gives 10% more dmg).
Staff has some nice group support skills, but I found it limits my dmg output too much, so I carry it with me, but only use it when I need greater range, and only in groups. I tried the Hammer but didn’t like it, just didn’t suit my play style.
Your survivability is better with two-handed weapons, probably because you’re using off-hand focus or shield? I prefer focus myself because skill #5 still provides an all-round shield while #4 does good damage.
I never liked it the Mace, I found it a bit misleading since it is your starter weapon and stuck with it only because I thought ‘there must be a reason…’, but I switched to sword, then Greatsword /Sw+Foc, as fast as I could while levelling.
I’d say try the different weapons and see what you like and what suits your type of play. You’ll settle on your favourites soon enough. :-)
Like I want to be a killer tank, who can help my team by tanking and or healing them.
There are no Tanks or Healers in this game. You might want to read up on GW2 combat elements.

Yeah Bell, I read ‘Funniest’ the first time too. Was gonna point to the YouTube series “Guild Wars 2 This is why we hate…”. 10 minutes you can’t regret. Lol.
