What determines name order in guild window?
The names of players or guilds you’ve joined?
The names of players are sorted based on what column you have sorted. By default, it’s sorted by who is online.
The guilds you’ve joined seem to be sorted based on the date the guild was created (probably by ID).
I think he means how the names of the members are sorted among the ones online. I don’t think that its alphabetical, but I haven’t been online in a while.
Edit: Nevermind, yeah order of guilds is sorted chronologically, earliest first.
I DID mean the names of online players actually :/ the names in the “main” window. I’m wondering if it has to do with representation
I haven’t been able to figure it out. Seems random. Have you noticed tho, that your name is always on top. That indicates that it’s different for each guild member.
Yeah, your name is always on top, I think the order under that is when others log in by default. The top of the non-online members is always the leader.

Um, no.
I think the entire list is either random with Online first or based on some kind of “logged in time” scheme. I have seen the Online portion reorder between looking at it over a period of time.
IT’s funny because yea recently I’ve only been on top, but I do recall being in other spots before. And yea, I’ve also seen the non-online members names be pretty random…
a theory: people that you have recently been in party with are higher up.
needs checking
I always see my name first. Then, if he’s is online, the next name is always the guild leader. After that it seems randomized to me (though I’m sure there is something, perhaps time they logged in).
It’s not alphabetical by character name or account name. I logged on this morning and checked. There were 2 others on. One representing (rep) and one who wasn’t (non rep) and who hadn’t in a month or more. So the order was me, rep, non rep. I then went invisible for a minute then visible. It was then me, non rep, rep. The only other factor I saw was that the rep came into my zone, but the order might have switched simply because I went invisible and didn’t switch back.

Chaos.
“Message Body length must at least be 15.”
Perhaps it’s related to how close each person is, because the order changes whenever someone changes zone and whenever I change zone.

I’m leaning toward this theory. It’s not alphabetical. It switched around when I went invisible. When one guildie was in my area and another was in a different server then the one in the other server was before the guildie standing by me. Random at best.
Or….. Maybe this is the endgame. Figuring out the logic behind the name order. :P
I’m not sure how it is done but here’s a list of things which Don’t determine it:
- Alphabetical order
- Guild rank
- Server/location
- Date you joined the guild
- Representing/not
The only consistent things seem to be that you’re always on top and people who are offline appear below those who are online.
My guess at the moment is that it’s in order of when you last logged in, with people currently online in order based on how long they’ve been logged in and people offline in order from when they last logged in.
(So for example someone who logged in 5 hours ago and is still online would be above someone who logged in an hour ago and then someone who logged out 2 minutes ago would be above someone who logged out an hour ago.)
I’m waiting for people in my guild to log in/out to test this.

That doesn’t explain why the order switched around when I went invisible though.
I’ve done a very quick test (aka watching my guild list for 5 minutes) and I think the order people log in is what determines it, at least for online players.
I’ve tried going invisible and back several times and the only change has been to bump me to the bottom of the online list. I think any other changes may have been a coincidence. (My guild was staying relatively consistent at the time so it was easy to keep track.)
Edit: And then if I closed the guild window and re-opened it I was back up to the top.

Someone might have relogged.
Remember, remember, 15th of November

Hmmm. I’m in a small guild with only a few people on so that would be fairly easy to check. I’ll have to watch it for a while and see if your theory holds up.
If someone in your guild is “LFG” (the useless blue magnifying glass) they will be above you in the window.

That’s possible, but it switched at the exact same time I went invisible. There were only 2 others on at the time and I didn’t repeat the experiment. I’ll have to do it again when there are a bunch on and see.
