Q:
Tarnished Coast
Ranger
(edited by Snubber.4967)
Q:
If you know what any of these terms mean that would be great if you could tell me what they mean, I’m new to level 80 and I’m trying to catch up on the lingo.
Berserker/Zerker/zerk – Do they mean the same thing? (context: "I’m looking for a Zerker Warrior)
Trap – context: a Trap Ranger
Zerg – I know what it means (a large group of players, right?) but why is it called a zerg? Is it a reference to zerg rush in Star Craft?
Bunker – a Bunker Ranger
Also, some other random questions:
What does it mean when someone says they’re porting in Lion’s Arch?
Is Agony and Agony Resistance only specific to FotM? Or, does it help outside of FotM?
What race do you think has the best racial abilities?
What colors match up to rarity types? (i.e. Ascended – Pink)
Are there any good dungeons to farm besides CoF path 1?
Thanks!

A:
-Berserker refers to the stat combination on the gear people are wearing. Level 60+ gear have 3 stats that they offer. One primary and 2 secondary. The primary offers more than the secondary. There is a different name for each combination. Berserker is geared towards maximum damage.
Here is the list : http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Prefix#Triple_attribute
-Indeed, zerg is a reference to starcraft
-Bunker seems to refer to builds that are designed to stay in one area and defend.
-Agony is only for FotM and doesn’t do anything outside of it.

Trap is a type of utility skill rangers and thieves have.
Agony and agony resistence are currently completely useless outside of FotM.
None of the racial abilities are all that great, under specific conditions they MAY come in handy. If you need a distraction and you are playing something that normally doesn’t have summons one of the sylvari/human/charr/asura racial summons might be useful but you could get the same thing from some consumables.
HotW p1 feels like it’s about the same length but the end boss takes longer to kill.

I can answer some.
Yes zerg is a reference to Starcraft. In WvW usually huge mobs of players swarm from target to target resembling a zerg rush.
Lion’s Arch is the main city in the game, there are multiple ways to get there quickly, and free from anywhere (with a stop along the way).
Agony resistance and the like only matters at the moment in FotM.

People who come from WoW or Rift like to pretend they there are roles such as Tanks/Damage Dealers but in the end, those terms mean nothing.
Choosing traits for your playstyle and getting stats you need for survival and damage contribution is what matters if you want to continue to be an asset to the team or even just solos.
I don’t encourage taking other people’s builds since it’s not your build.
You are better off choosing Traits/stats that fits your playstyle.
Remember: Survival and contribution in Damage is vital in combat.
Lacking 1 of the 2 is a bad idea since there are no healers to baby sit you.

Not sure anyone has answered this one for you yet. It depends on the context – if they are saying this outside of LA it may mean they are talking about the means of travel they plan to take back to LA (e.g. Heart of the Mists). However, I suspect you have seen it said in LA in which case it will be mesmers offering a portal service to get people to the end of the jumping puzzles (and the chests) located in the city.
Some mesmers advertise the service for tips, most do it for free but are always appreciative of a tip if you want to give one.
None of the LA jumping puzzles are extremely hard, but expecially on a day when completing puzzles is one of the daily activities it is a handy thing to have access to. Mesmers will usually post directions to the portal point, just keep an eye out in map chat.
