Guild Wars 2

I keep seeing the term “LA” used in forum posts, what does this mean? Everyone says to go there to level from 1-80. I just bought gw2 and am only lvl 2, i’ve just been doing plenty of PvP. Should I go to this “LA” place and do FotM(something else I keep seeing) to level?

Lion’s Arch. The main city with all the aura gates, Fotm(Fractals of the Mists). This is the place where most people hang out and form froups to do dungons and alike.

It’s sort for Lion’s Arch, the “hub” city. You can get there using an Asura gate in any big city, or you can go there exiting from the Asura gate in the Heart of the Mists (PVP area). As for leveling there, they probably meant Fractal of the Mists level, not character level. You can’t do FotM (Fractals) as a level 2

LA = Lions Arch the most central of the main cities
FotM = Fractals of the mist, sometimes also jsut refered to as “fractals”

i would not recommand doing fractals at lvl 2 though, wait till you at least are lvl 30 so you avhe all your skill slots opened up, both uttilty and elites. even though you will be scaled up to 80 inside fractals, you will be very vulnerable and give very little dps compared to other chracters, as you like are in only white armor and might not even have all your armor slots filled out yet, so if you go there as lvl 2 i wouldnt be surprised if you get 1-2 shotted by even thrash mobs

EDIT: seems i got beat by 5 other ppl while writing this :P, but maddoctor you can go there as lvl 2 yes, and get scaled up im pretty sure, but as i said earlier you would be less than a dead-weight for your team

LA is short for Lion’s Arch.
It is the hub city in Tyria and can be accessed by Asura Gate in all the Main Cities and the Mists.
No you don’t have to go there to level- just explore do Dynamic events, personal story, gather and craft if you want- you will level in no time.
Since you do PvP you can try leveling in WvWvW but I wouldn’t recommend it

Actually, you can. You simply get buffed to lvl 80 like in WvW.

Yes I know but a level 2 doesn’t have skills/items so you can’t really do FotM at level 2 because your character will be terrible

The easiest way to get to la is goto pvp or wvw then enter the portal gate to la.
