What does fractal mean

I’m way too tired to try and summarise that right now.
But in GW2 specifically it’s short for the Fractals of the Mists dungeon in LA.

It’s a dungeon made up of a set of mini dungeons which starts out relatively easy and then gets progressively harder the more you do it thanks to a unique condition called Agony which can only be countered with ascended equipment.
