Hi, when i was looking up how to join a guild, I was reading the top post that was giving information on how to post. It said that in your posts you should put your server name, so other guilds know what server you are in. I thought servers were just your location, such as eu or u.s, but there were a bunch of names such as “dragonbrand” server or “blackgate server” and I have no idea what that means or which one I am in.

Go to character selection screen, in your bottom left corner it will tell you what server you are on.

When the game came out we did not have Megaservers, so picking a server meant the only players you would see would be from your server.

Now the only meaning servers have is in relation to WvW, your home world, who you fight for. Although through linkings again servers have lost server identity, it’s just categorizing you to your home world and which side you will fight for in WvW.

Otherwise, it means nothing like the “guest” option.

I mostly play for the new Free-For-All arena in PvP lobby.
….. And Elementalist.

So if im in one server, and i join a guild from another server (just a hypothetical situation) I can play with them no problems at all, just not in WvW?

Also, do all the servers from one region pertain to that whole region?

You do have to be in the same region NA or EU to play with others in your guild. As long as you are in the same region it only affects WvW.

Guilds are cross server, cross region (NA servers are in TX, US; EU servers are in Germany) but you can only play with people in your region. Outside of WvW, you can play with anyone in your region regardless of server.

Thanks, now I understand! One last question, is there anywhere I can find out which servers are the most populated?

Server population is based on active WvW population. Generally server ranking relates to active WvW population. Here is a link to WvW rankings and their history over time. However the most successful WvW servers tend to be difficult to join.
