As I mention in the title, the “Full” shown during the world selection,
mean

1. This server is TOTALLY FULL and doesn’t even have a space for you to join!
2. This server is CURRENTLY FULL and you might try to join after a period of time.

I am not sure the full mean no slot for new comer to join, or the server is currently in peak period, i might join when lesser people play.

Which does it mean? My friend have his account on Sea of Sorrow but the full server just block me to even select it to join.

Will I able to join if I wait for some time and try? ( They say join when lesser people is online, but I had already test for almost 12 hours and it still shown full )

Or it will be nearly impossible for it to take off the “full” status? ( Some people say need wait other people to transfer world and leave slot for new comer, the waiting process is unknown)

**I am not a MMORPG fans. I play DN before but it doesn’t really end well with me as the process of leveling almost kill me.

In the end, the only game I play with my PC is LOL.

Few day ago GW2 was doing the 50% discount, and I am convinced by my LOL mate to join GW2. By looking on the game play on youtube, I feel that it will be quite cool if I skype with my friend and playing WvW map together. Thousands of plays fighting on a map is awesome.

Yet things stuck in the very beginning, I discover that if I join on other server, I still can join with my friend in other server by guesting, except the WvW map, which i wish the most to play with my friend. T___T

The mechanics with regards to a server’s population is stated to be more complex than simply how many accounts call that server their home server, but that is a good means to measure it. This is not an indication of the current amount of people connected to that server. Having said that, this means that you will need to wait for people to transfer out of the server before you may join (unless others join before you).

This mechanic was put in place to deter people from simply flocking to the top servers while leaving others completely empty. As Sea of Sorrows is a top ranking server in WvW (4th overall, and top in NA tier 2), the wait to get into the server may be quite long.

One alternative is for your friend to transfer out of SoS and join you in a different server, but if you’re dead-set on joining SoS, there is little anyone can do. You will just need to wait and hope some people move out.

Full means that you will not be able to select the realm as your home realm or transfer to it.

Because you specifically mention wanting to WvW with a friend on SoS, this would definitely be a problem for you.

Realm populations definitely shift over time and change with some degree of frequency. Unfortunately, Sea of Sorrows is one of the top four (NA) WvW realms, and correspondingly, has one of the highest populations.

Some firmly believe that realm population is a gauge of how many people are online at one time – thus the belief that server wide ‘community’ blackouts – where players simply do not log in or play for a period of time – are helpful for getting new players and more specifically guilds onto the server. Also, player population peak hours would play a role in this status.

There is also speculation that Arenanet fairly routinely increases the overall population cap on all servers once in a while.

Regardless of the reasons for the shift in realm population, just know that they do change - realms rarely stay full for more than a few weeks, with the longest streak I’m aware of is about 3 months.

Since Sea of Sorrows is well known for it’s large SEA/OCX presence, I would try taking a peek at realm population status when people from these timezones are the least active.

It’s also worth mentioning that if you have no characters, you’re able to freely select a realm (while still abiding by population rules), which may in some cases be a better choice than paying for a realm transfer.

My friend has a max level necro at SoS and yes, we are SEA players.
He had his friends there and I think would be inappropriate for him to transfer the account out just to accompany me.

Guess the only choices I left is test the luck or just get to other server…
