What else to do besides quest?
To elaborate on costs of crafting:
Jeweling requires no money to level at all.
Tailoring will require you to purchase thread and/or runes (thread for armors, runes for bags—thread is cheap).
There is no real cost for purchasing recipies (you pay karma for those, and even then you don’t need them until very high levels) or anything else. You can gather all the materials on your own, aside from the thread and runes mentioned above.

You can also jump into PVP and World versus World right from the get-go if you’re into that sort of thing.
And then there’s Keg Brawl in Hoelbrak, and hopefully more minigames in the future.

Don’t forget, with friends, you can really do any zone in the game you want. I’ve seen a level 36 elementalist in a group on Cursed Shore, doing events with the 80’s and having no trouble at all.

Not to be a pessimist, but there is a good chance that was a botter. Not many level 36s will even know how to get to Orr unless it’s a second character. I see plenty of very low levels in Orr: most are armorless Rangers, have a Juvenile Brown Bear, and have names like Andrew C Brown or a bunch or letters. lol
Henge of Denravi since day 1
Heh, this was back when Orr was full of people doing the event zerg, and I’m very sure it was a real person, we had a very interesting conversation, in which he explained how his friends had brought him here.
We also had a good chat about the old sidekicking system, and how awesome it was, even if it did mean you could skip content.
But, back on track, and to the Original Poster:
There really isn’t anything you can’t do, especially if you have friends. Continue doing hearts, even if you’re solo. Go PvP it up for a while. You’ll be less good in WvW, without all your traits, but if you stick with the zerg, you’ll do fine. As for leveling your crafts, it’s simple: Gather goods, and craft. For most things, you’ll need an inscription, and two components to discover a recipe. Simply do that over and over again, and you’re golden.
So shines a good deed in a naughty world.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, looks like ill be crafting and doing some pvp now, along with quests.
My only problem now is i dont have any money to level my tailoring or jeweler, how should i go about making money to level them up?
