I was gone for 10 days and now I come back and no more overflow at all no matter what time of the day.
Events have like 5 people and 3 of them are botting, I try to get lfg for dungeons and people respond not really worth it bro.

Did I miss something?

You missed a lot of people getting to 80 and the infamous Diminishing Returns bug on dungeon run loot.

Edit: Also go to Lion’s Arch. Pretty sure you’ll still find an overflow there. Also the DR bug is hitting people with diminishing returns when it shouldn’t be so right now some people are just hanging back and waiting to see if they fix it fast.

People are either going to call you a troll on this or either come up with some explanation about how the amount of players has dropped because there’s already been a month since release and it’s normal and so on.

The truth is the game has some big issues at the moment, the biggest of them all probably being the fact that bots are everywhere and they’re ruining the economy. Then, there’s the fact that nobody wants to do dungeons, which discourages even those who were willing to do them. My friend and my brother, both of whom started playing on the 28th have already given up the game, while I no longer find any desire to log in, simply because of the fact that no matter what I’d do, it would probably not be worth the time and effort.

I’d say it’s a combination of many different factors. To name but a few:

- A lot of people have rushed through content and ended up getting bored due to the flawed mentality of ignoring the journey to a particular destination.

- The game is currently infested with a great many bots, to the point where the economy is genuinely being ruined.

- A lack of communication between Arena Net and players regarding what exactly is planned for the future. Patch notes need to be released before a particular fix so we have plenty of warning as to what to expect when we next log on.

Don’t forget that Pandas also came out yesterday, people who decided that they like WoW have hopped back over.

@Guaradan just FYI they did find a bug in the DR code that was causing some people to be stuck in a state of perpetual DR and have a fix already made for it and in internal testing

Even if they fix it, I doubt it will encourage people to do dungeons. It seems that the fact that dungeons are simply not worth it has become deeply embedded in the collective mentality of the playerbase. And it’s going to be hard to convince people otherwise.

I’d agree that there’s little incentive to run dungeons at the moment. Some of the gear offered as a reward is nice, though what about those of us who are currently happy with the gear we can obtain much more easily? The game has a lot to offer, though I think it will benefit more from offering more ‘fun’ stuff along the same lines of keg brawling.

I’d also like to see more way of obtaining town clothes and miniatures. Just because there’s a gem store and trading post it doesn’t mean that everything should be obtained there.

After a month people leave the game if they are bored or didn’t enjoy it. It’s like the opening of a new restaurant. The first month you have 1-2 hour waits. Once they hype is gone it goes to 20 mins. If the place is amazing then it stays 1-2 hrs if not longer.

GW2 is hard to compare to others because you can go by subs. This since there is none just accounts and since it is free monthly people won’t cancel accounts. But without a doubt the login population has dropped a lot since launch.

I know for me I got bored of the game and haven’t logged on recently but I like the fact it is free so I can if I get the itch. All games aren’t for everyone and I know I am not the only one who has stopped playing GW2 for now. Since WoW, I don’t think any game has grown in population after the first month after a release.

Lots of stuff in the game right now making people upset like the bots, balancing of pvp along with how boring the pvp is right now among other things. It definitely already hit its peak on launch.

It has nothing to do with people leaving the game lol. What happened was WvWvW. Some servers win all the time. Most people left other servers to go to the WvWvW server thats winning.

Also overflow only happened it was launched. Now everyone is spread out. I still see tons of people in all events i do on all levels.

That’s great you see tons of people in all events. Others don’t. If you think the people logging on now compared to launch is greater or very close to it then you are blind. Being this is free to play you can’t really count subs or accounts because they don’t need to cancel accounts when they leave the game. I stopped playing but not going to cancel my account because I may get an itch to play again or even just play an hour maybe down the road.

I have nothing against the game but to think people haven’t stopped logging on is just insane. I wish there was a chart to show the times of day from launch to now. I will guarantee you the chart lines are downward and not just barley lower.

Since WoW, I don’t think any game has grown in population after the first month after a release.

You should check out EVE Online, the population has been continually growing since release, and they just did a massive overhaul to the New Player Experience.

Ahhh fair enough. I forgot about EVE. I don’t know how much it is growing but are you comparing it from launch also? I mean LotR is growing too but that is only after they lost tons of subs and went f2p. I am not trolling just asking because I don’t play EVE but know a lot of people who play it love it.

Man, my server is still packed, and traveling even to places like Queensdale still put you in an overflow. The overflows aren’t long, but they’re common. I still see decent turnout for things as simple as short escort events.

I’m on Tarnished Coast, BTW.

What zones are you in that are low population??

Still haven’t managed to get into WvW (not that I’ve tried too hard) but now a lot of people are higher level you can start an alt now and play a zone how it’s meant to be played. No more zerg and events are more challenging. Much better

Those of us who play alts have noticed, too, that mid-level zones are rather empty. With lvl 80 being the absorbing state, it’s inevitable unless you somehow find a way to keep people doing new characters.

Dungeons are notably the weakest part of GW2, and seemingly were designed to be a niche. But amid all the screams that dungeons are too hard and not rewarding, the response was to make them even harder and less rewarding yet.

The way I look at it, each game has its strengths and weaknesses. Some games (say WoW and Rift) were designed to be dungeon progression games, with pvp tacked on afterwards. So their pvp is meh. Other games (say lineage2) were designed to be bone-crushing pvp games. And their pve play is meh.

GW2 – gear doesn’t matter. No penalty pvp on side games that’s a lot of fun. It’s like Disneyworld in an mmo. There’s a lot to like. A lot lot.

(edit oops didn’t finish)
GW2 is not a dungeon-runners game or a progression game. So play it as you want, and then go play something else if you want a dungeon-progression. That’s ok, that’s how it’s designed.
