Like is it stacking certain stats? I see so many people mentioning that term, “bunker build” but I can’t find anywhere that actually says what a bunker build is. Is it just P/V/T gear?

Depends on profesion, a bunker build is basically a build designed around survivability, so basically yep, using P/V/T gear combined with a max on your profession defensive traits and utilities.

Not really. There are no true tanks. this is cause of the way agro holds in this game. To ‘tank’ you need to deal significant amount of damage otherwise the foes will just ignore you. This means sacrificing suvivability for dps. A bunker is build round suvivability and won’t deal enough damage. Therefore it is in many situations not suited as a tank.

However in almost every dungeon there is good use of a bunker and also in e.g. WvW they can play important roles.

You essentially become an immovable object. Unless a dedicated force is thrown to dislodge you of your position.

in sPvP its the act of holding onto the cap with your most durable member. Be it Guardian / Ele / Theif / Warrior / Engineer / etc…

How they do it is irrelevant. It’s the means to the end. For Ele it can be through the use of earth shield + their burst + mobility + healing etc… It doesn’t need to be done via stat stacking but that can help.

I’ve used PVT+Healing Guardian to stay alive. It means you can run through a crowd in PvE and live, or stay upright in Wv3. It also means you get to tank a lot of stuff in dungeons. But the downside is that damage output gets reduced.

Bunker Guardian plus mace/shield is kind of an immovable rock. Killing anything big takes a while though. :P

A build that focuses on survivability(that doesn’t depend on mobility) and usually has a high resistance to CC.
